Guys,
As you are probably all painfully aware, Build 15 is not perfect :/ We are still finding crashing problems, as well as something funky going on with map rotation (although that's probably just something wierd with my .cfg set-up, and probably not the mod itself)...
Now, first of all, let me make it clear that these crashing problems fustrate me just as much as they do you. But at the end of the day, this is what beta testing is all about. And to get these remaining problems cleared up, I'm going to need your help.
Now, it seemed to be that as long as I got you guys to not use the Droideka in Build 14, games were able to run smoothly without a hitch indefinetly.
With the release of maps with increased spawn points, I was confident that these droideka-related problems would disappear. And indeed, I'm fairly sure that Droideka-related crashes are gone.
But to confirm this, could you guys report back to me the highest number of Droideka's you have had consistently in-game? Also, could you specify the map you were playing on at the time...
Now, if it's as I suspect, and the remaining crashes are NOT Droideka related - then this leaves only 3 main possibilities as far as I can see...
* There were other causes of crashes in Build 14 that were just blamed on the Droideka problem.
* I have introduced a new method of crashing within one or more of the other fixes between build 14 and 15.
* It's something to do with having pure server set to off. (The server(s) were set to pure throughout the entire testing period of Build 14)
Now, of course, the last one can be tested fairly easiely by simply turning back on pure server! ;) But that's gonna upset a few of you. Which is why I have set up our duel server to now run as a normal MB server, but in pure mode - so that I can see if that one crashes too.
...the only problem is no-one's currently playing on the pure server, so I can't really test my theory.
...so - to cut a long story short, I need a few of you to play on the pure server now and again (IP: 195.20.109.47:29075) to try and test my theory about pure server setting having some influence on crashing. If enough of you dont' use it, I will either have to set up a seperate large-scale closed beta (a hassle) or I'll have to set BOTH servers to pure (and a lot of you won't like that).
So please - try out the pure server now and again.
As far as the other two possibilities for crashes, I'd like to come on the servers now and again and sometimes ask for some 'experiments' to be conducted so as to try and reproduce some crashes. I won't too it too often, so as to disrupt your play too much. But any help you provide could help get us to full release that much quicker - so I hope a lot of you will be happy to co-operate.
