Community contribution to the official gallery

I noticed that the gallery was empty so I figured this might be a good thread for the community to contribute by posting their best screenshots. The devs are busy enough as it is. :p

Sorry for the people who took time out to make screens for nothing if they didnt get in
it seems a lot of you dont seem to understand what we are looking for..
a lot of the shots either
1. had only one player in them, hardly gameplay shots..
2. Looked terrible, taking pictures of low settings isnt going to make MBII appeal to newcomers

i will be keep some of the good looking ones to update the classes gallery at some point though

hopefully you guys have a better idea of what we need..this is not a funny or pwning pictures thread


i think this i a good idea, the last attempt at encoraging the community to submit some screenshots for the gallery was a spectacular failure..
kris if you want to organise this then you have my support, bear in mind though for any shots to be considered for the gameplay section they must:

Show gameplay (not one person standing around or something funny...or a shot of your score)
Must be on a stock map, no CMP maps sadly
must not use any third party modifications, cant give off the wrong impression
Must contain the HUD, who plays without it?

Ok, I've sticked this thread, so people can see this thread and just come to this one thread to post what they would like to submit to the official galleries. Keep in mind that there are requirements (as Menion as posted aboved).

Edit: I have renamed the thread so it is more fitting, although the original point still stands.

I'm new to screenie taking, but it sounds like something I can do :rolleyes: I've tried to take screenies that match the criteria mentioned above. Since these are like, my first screens that I've ever tried to make good, I am open to things to make them better or w/e but I am gonna post a couple to make sure that I'm on the right track, or see whether or not they are acceptable, if so I'll continue to take more.

One thing I did notice is that these images look a little dark, should probably increase my brightness a little bit :confused: And it does take a little getting used to hitting a binded screenshot button while trying to play naturally.

Why has it got to contain the HUD? The gallery has a section for wallpapers too, sure some HUD shots would be nice for the gameplay screenshots, but if you limit yourselfs to HUD only, I doubt you're going to get any professional-looking photos from players.

My screens were attempted ''Gameplay'' screenies so... yeah. Were those alright gameplay screenies? or is there something that should be changed to make them better gameplay screens? Are you supposed to call them screens, screenies, or screenshots? or does it matter? or have I asked too many questions :confused:

P.S. I wanted to try and taking some screens w/o the HUD and and what not like you mentioned Mandaloress but I figured I would take some HUD included screens as they seem to be less common.

Depends, it freezes some animation and loops others
Like if I noclip while doing a kata (the crouch-attack-forward on staff for example) it'll loop until i hit noclip again.

Saber fighting pictures most of the time show more action, also more movie like methinks. For good gunner pictures I personally think you just have to get a lot of gunners in combat poisitions firing away.

Thanks, and I figured I will take it one step at a time. I started with sabering screens, as it's my most comfortable class. Want to try getting some screens as a gunner too. And of course I want to get more gunners in my screens :P

In my settings there is no Anti Aliasing control, and I know it hurts my eyes too Gab. Team did say they wanted everything on high though, this is all on high.

Of course there is great variety of qualtiy screenshots depending on each individual graphic card.

Set all your hardware gfx settings to highest level and start again. Detailed shaders are senseless, better turn them off.

how do I get my pictures up? they are taken in high quality format but they are all over 100kb. I have a lot of nice picks but not all of them have the hud. also, a lot of them are in spectator mode. I like the overhead shots a lot. Also, why do they have to show hud? Don't they just need to show awesome gameplay?

1. Open your console and type: /cg_draw2d 0 /cg_drawfps 0 /cg_drawgun 0 /cg_thirdPersonCameraDamp 0

Then press your binded screenshot button. To get all that back, type: /cg_draw2d 1 /cg_drawfps 1 /cg_drawgun 1 /cg_ThirdPersonCameraDamp 0.3

NOTE: This will only show front of your character, and this tip removes HUD.

So guys - has to contain a HUD, none of this cg_draw2d 0 talk (you might think it is better without, but this is for the MB team's use, not yours, so, no HUD removal).

Simple version would be...

Bind <key> "cg_draw2d 0;cg_drawfps 0;cg_drawfps 0;cg_drawgun 0;cg_thirdPersonCameraDamp 0"

and

Bind <key> "cg_draw2d 1;cg_drawfps 1;cg_drawfps 1;cg_drawgun 1;cg_thirdPersonCameraDamp 1"

Why have you done cg_drawfps twice in the same bind for both of them?
