Setting Projected Shadows causes people are being kicked. Additionally SAC changes shadows to Simple all the time. WTF?

This is because you can exploit projected shadows by seeing through the floor, and they also go through walls. Im sure you're well aware of this, as this is why you decided to bring the issue to the forums.

And fyi, i think you will find EVERYONE has noticed Projected Shadows arnt allowed with SAC.

Don't keep forcing it back over and over and over.. SAC gets annoyed with your constant attempts to bug abuse and decides to screw you over just to proof it's point: Don't mess with this. Oh man, it's actually thinking now.. it'll become SkyNet!

I didn't know or noticed it. I thought the menu is broken or something. I switched to volumetric shadows and have more fps lag and broken shadows now. Btw. with volumetric shadows you can see the guiz too, for example through the CW on dotf.

Can't you just block projected shadows or delete the function or make ppl kick by the server? I bet there is a console command to activate projected shadows. Pro cheaters will still have this advantage. >>

Since when using a feature from the game menu (!) is cheating? I thought that anti cheat should prevent cheating. Anyway, You really should make a list of banned cvars and sticky it as soon as possible. People are getting kicked constantly because of their configs ( read only ) and they don't even know why. You should have done that before releasing SAC.

SAC, besides preventing serious hacking, also prevents exploitation of game features. The limitations of the engine make projected shadows project through walls, which is a wallhack-ish ability.

Reset your configs then. Jesus.

Tbh here, you shouldn't be doing this through SAC, Vortex. Should had let us disable it in the code and in the ui...

No, reset your configs and delete SAC then. This kind of unpleasant surprises are annoying. Now I can understand why some servers have deactivated SAC after one day or just wait and see. Atm the guys behind the project fail badly by introducing their new program.

So you're gonna edit engine variables through the SDK? :p

Want me to do a UI replacement for you?

Block the cvar and remove it from the UI...

Lol, its a nice idea after all :p But you should have at least told us about it Deahtspike, haha.

I havent even noitced it but then again I only played 30 min since its release. A list of kick-reasons would be... good I guess. Hm...

This has been in since beta, funny how people dislike it now that there is a topic to whine about it. It's a good thing, because people can abuse this cvar.

I noticed it too (still couldn't be bothered to change my cfg, lazy me :p), but I think it's a good thing. Perhaps Deathspike could add some message when your cg_shadows gets changed due to it being on the wrong number.. but other than that, it's perfectly fine, if you ask me.
