I have few suggestions about maps of Movie Battles. Firstly there is not enough of them. Secondly there is lack of maps with open spaces with forests, jungles, swamps or deserts. On which there would be needed new professions like jungle/swamp/desert/scout/rocket troopers and new aliens from star wars world. For example nice map is Jungle Warfare for siege but there arent good classes in alien team. :D

well about there not being enough maps, me and several other mappers are trying to fill that void, second, open maps are kinda hard to make with good FPS in mind, unless you use fog and other FPS saving methods. I have an Endor forest map in the works, and other maps set in your locations are a possibility in the future.

hey guys,
did anybody ever think about makin a Geonosis map? I think about the EPII senario clonies/jedi vs. droids with a goal to capture the deathstar information from the command center of the sepearatists. would be not quite strategic but rock by duelling with help of the vehicles. :D

"the deathstar information"

I just noticed your sig, tom, and the irony of that statement. Because really, in Episode IV Han seems like he's right on the money. There's one old dude (Obi-Wan), one goofy kid (Luke), and then there's Han and Chewie, who get most of the **** done throughout the film.

I think that maybe Star Wars lost something very important when Lucas made Jedi into OMFGNINJAHAXXORZ. Because really, it wasn't until Episode I that they started being invincible. Vader was pretty imposing, but he was one of a kind, and he was a villain forchrissakes.

Hmm. I guess I'm rambling, but the human aspect of the Jedi seems to have been completely lost in the prequel trilogy. The whole thing has become more like a DC comic than a Marvel. *hopes somebody understands what he means*

the deathstar was not even in sight by the time of Ep.2 so how could there be any information about it?

Dooku said he'd take plans on a datapad to his master, he pressed some button and a picture of the DS came up

lol funny Jacko avatar. :D
Yes, i meant the "information about the Deathstar", which was taken by Dooku. ;)

10 vs 10 equipped with partly vehicles and partly infantry would be nice on a Geonosis battelfield. :D

You didnt watch Episode2, did you? =P

The Geonisian leader showed the deathstar plans to Dooku and said 'If they find this, we'll be doomed' or something like that. But you can clearly see the deathstar plans there.

that is what the PT is lacking , some non-force dude with wit (like Han or even Lando)

While you compare DC with Marvel, I compare Marvel with Image :p

Anyway, I believe you are wrong Vox. Just because the prequel jedis perform more acrobatics than in the OT, it doesnt mean they turned them into invicible machines of war. In Geonosis, dozens of jedis died in battle, victims of the tremendous firepower applied against them. They would simply die, if the clones would'nt have arrived in time.
Also in the OT there are some facts to consider before making false judgements:
- Alec Guiness was OLD so you could'nt expect to see him performing jedi like acrobatics.
- Vader's suit was heavy and clumsy, so the conclusion is the same than Obi Wan's case.
- In ep IV Luke is stil a kid who picked up in a lightsaber only a few times.

Still, I think the saber duel in ROTJ is pretty impressive. Vader performs some acrobatics when Luke kicks him and even Luke performs some Jedi-Like jumps. Also lets not forget that Luke pratically defeated alone the entire Jabba enchman army in the Sarlacc pit INCLUDING BOBBA FETT (though he didnt died).
Also Luke only becames a jedi when he defeats Vader. So in the entire OT Luke's nothing but a mere padawan. Its true that Obi-Wan performs crazy acrobatics in ep I but he had a more complete and efficient training, not like luke who just learned all by himself. Yoda and Obi-Wan's training was much more spiritual than fisic.

Analizing Vader's combat style, we can see its much like Dooku's Style. Simple, firm, using only a few moves and specially, wielding the lightsaber only with one hand. We did'nt saw Dooku performing any acrobatic in the ep II. Still his combat style is unique and devastating!

People who insults ep II fights and keep saying ''OMFGORZZ!!! Ray park was teh pwnz0rxz! Teh ep I fights are wayyyyy too much better!!!'' just dont understand Dooku's fighting style. That's why they think the fight sucks. Because its much more like the OT fights. Personally I loved the ep II fight(s).

The previous documentation contains demonstrations of extreme nerdiness and it should not be watched by sensitive viewers.

Hell yeah!

I saw Ep 2 ... once and it's been a long time.

I just think stealing the deathstar plans wouldn't pose for a good objective since they have been stolen already in SW history by Kyle and by that time the rebuplic and jedi didn't know of them.

in ROTJ luke is then a jedi knight, and he is pretty much invincible, only he doesnt use as many fancy moves because i assume the training he went through wasnt the same as the traning PT jedi went through
also in OT vader and obi were both old men, cant expect any acrobatics from them

I think he means Jedi become less mystic because there are many of them, and even if they have a bunch of alien thingies they're all pretty much the same, while in the OT there were few and had more personality (a bit like Qui Gon Jinn in EP 1, he stands out of the Jedi crowd).

OT: Maybe a imps attack map, end of geo battle, the republic has won. Either escort Dooku to his ship so he can escape with the plans or bring the plans to him/his ship.

PS: I like Dookus fight, the Yoda part (except the force duel) and the "lets hold our swords over our heads" part are quite silly though.

See, I'm not talking about anything behind the scenes in the OT or the PT. I'm not talking about what you or I KNOW about Obi-Wan or Vader and how much ass they could kick. I'm talking strictly about what actually goes on in front of me on the screen.

See, in the first five minutes of Episode I the Jedi a). demonstrate a NEW jedi ability to hold their breath indefinitely; b). kill a lot of droids; c). demonstrate a NEW jedi ability to use super-speed.

Whereas in the OT very little of the Jedi awesomeness is ever displayed outright.

I'm just talking about how Lucas demonstrates that Jedi are cool. In the OT it's very mystical and unknown, and in the PT it's all shown explicitly.

I can concede the point that they do indeed kill a lot of droids and explicitly use their power in a flashy evocative way, yet I cannot let you think the jedi held their breath indefinetly.

They used little breather mechanisms, look it up, or watch the movie again.

im guessing in OT jeid were meant to seem mythical beacuse they were close to extinct whereas before they were an army of peace keepers around the galaxy
i didnt really want lucas to portray jedi in the same way in the PT as in the OT because i would of prefered a completely differnet style of film rather then more of the same, jedi shouldnt be the same kind of jedi that were in OT

Besides this i was envy to learn more about the "old" Jedis and to get informations of this style of Jedi arts. I absolutely agree with u.
I`d would be a shame if GL have made it like the OT.

-scout storm Trooper
-"hoth" storm Trooper

And trust me Lindsey has been giving off alot of map's lately.

That would be "Scout Trooper" and "Snow Trooper". I'm not really surprised that you didn't know that :p

Well, that's pretty much the idea itself. In the OT there were pratically no jedis, and the public never knew what was the real power of a jedi when battling. With the extintion of the jedi, no wonder they became so mystical and unknow! People spread stories and legends trough out the galaxy about ancient, (well, not so acient at all :p) superhuman warriors with incredible powers! I think Lucas didnt removed any mysticism of the jedi by making them more ''uber ninja like :p''. Lucas just wanted to show us what is the true nature (and capabilities) of a jedi knight. Thats all. Jedis still have a very strict and calm personality, and they are always very serious and emotionless which can make them a very boring and ''uncool'' for more specific viewers. Thats why a lot more of people prefer the sith to the jedi: because sith normally wear dark, totally freakin cool outfits, because they wear red sabers, because they give in to their anger, and because they look definitively more cool in their evilness.
Believe it or not, a lot of people simply hates jedis due to their lack of emotions and their silent and calm personality like I've mentioned before.
