Because I was tired of waiting for Meta I decided to make my own frag movie, so here is the ever so epic thread that will make this happen! LOLfrags is a title I came up with out of nothing... Literally, I couldn't think of **** at the time so I ended up with this.

What I'm looking for:
- Anything silly
- Airsnipes, air blobs, air whatever, be creative
- Intelligent or witty use of the game and it's mechanics
- Everyday stuff performed with finesse
- Frags that are NOT staged. I will be looking through demos to make sure they aren't. :]
- Pretty saber stuff, you can be the judge. Or... Technically I'll be the judge, but whatever, you get the point.

I'd imagine you've probably got upwards of a few hundred frags by now. Make a video already. :P

I only have a few actually. Lost my last backup, though I did keep my RC1 dem- I FOUND MY LAST FOLDER. ;D!

Well, I'd still like to see what other people have to offer. Right now it's only me, Ben, Angre, Elessar, Khage and Gargos. I have my entire RC1 directory, which has about 50 demos in it, and I can duplicate a bunch of ****, it's just so incredibly easy to do now.

Anyways, quick update. I'm doing a quality test after bumping my video card settings up to max. When I get enough I'll make a trailer to show you I'm not just wasting time and ****ing around. :P

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I forgot that Ben, Angrenost, Mystic and Doll all sent me their demos through email! Now I have about 100 demos to look through. Trailer in a couple weeks then!

Look in MBII's controls menu for how to start and stop recordings. You do not need any external software at all, just need to bind keys to do it.

I'm going to be using the cl_avidemo method so I can use my own resolution. Having 200 300-400 megabyte avi files with different resolutions and settings would make the video look kinda awkward. ><

I prefer them to be sent through email, that way I have a history of them incase something goes wrong with either one of my hard drives. That's how I got the 90 demos Doll, Ben and Angre sent me.

Just upload it to there.. that site is pretty solid. Every video is in HD and as far as i know no copyright issues as most songs featured would be taken down asap on youtube. :P

I don't take fraps recordings, they have to be .dm files, recorded using the ingame stuff.

Actually, it uses my quality, which will be about 5 times better than normal in-game. 32x AA, highest texture details, etc. Which is why I would rather have all frags look the same, instead of having each person record it themselves with FRAPS.

Quick bumpety bump. Sadly, no one has sent me any demos, which makes the actual video making process even slower than it already has been for me, which puts me in a difficult situation with the start of school and upcoming projects this year.

Sometime in the next few weeks I should be getting my new video card, so I'll begin editing then (this way I can use a higher AA than what I was going to use), but I would really love to see more people step up and demo if they find they're doing well. I'm saying this mostly to the European players, as they have servers that don't always play DOTF, but if you're American and find a server that is populated running a rotation, usually TLP Open, it would be awesome if you could demo, even if you don't get anything. Would really boost my mood in actually making this video. :/

What I plan to do in the meanwhile is make a personal ego-vid about DOTF. *glares at sig space* Yeah, I hate where I live.

Resist the temptation! But yeah sometimes your mind screams to do something else after a couple of hours of mind-numbing editing, but you just have to dig in and keep the creative juices/inspiration/motivation going.

Probably. :P You'll most likely be able to do much more with yours than I would.

EDIT: I have two minutes of it rendered right now, nothing edited for test reasons, and it looks good so far. Others might agree, but for using methods that are completely new to me I find it went quite well. :P I'll upload some screenshots tomorrow probably.

Instead, I'll be rendering it with the resolution I play with, which is 1280x1024.

You might want to render at a more standard 4:3 aspect ratio, eg: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, rather than the 5:4 of 1280x1024.
Also, if you insist on doing a video in huge resolutions, don't forget to offer a low res copy as well. (Youtube will conveniently downscale it automatically though, so that's fine for most people who'd rather have a low res version.)

I guess I could see how well it looks in HD (I'm using a different program for main editing, so I don't have the dumbass resolution problems I was experiencing with Premiere), but I do want to have a downloadable version, possibly in 1024x768. All depends on how well it looks with the vid tbh.

Don't fuss with HD. Many of the best frag movies aren't in HD and you can still achieve good quality with lower resolutions (e.g. mbt00)

I was going to write a huge response for all the trolls that think that I'm wasting their time, but I decided not to. Instead, quick explanation on why I won't be working on this for sometime.
