View Full Version : Mb2_Echo Base W.I.P
I've been working mighty hard on this one, im at the lighting stage atm, so don't expect the lighting here to be final, just wanted to show off some parts of what ive been working on these past few weeks (most areas still need alot of detailing so for the moment they are absent). First off we have one of many ice tunnels in echo base, some will have hungry wampas :D

Here we have another tunnel, this one with bracing and piping, some of the piping will be breakable which will send a scalding stream of steam in some poor fools face (a.k.a it kills or harms them)

Next we have a turbine/heating room of some sort, with a bridge that leads over the whole operation. I plan on making parts of the bridge breakable (like the hand rails perhaps) to send people falling to their doom. (the lighting here has to be fixed up a bit)

Finally (for now) we have a small section from Raven's well done hoth map (I borrowed this and the hanger where players fight alora simply because they looked great). Lighting here also is to be improved, but as you can see, there will be plenty of cover.

lol this aint got nothing on ours ;)
its shall we say, a different part of Hoth, the teams version does have more advanced features then mine, that much I'll say.

the corridors are alright bt a little blocky.
The Door Texture on the next screen is way too streched. And the rockwalls are to steep
Reminds me of the echo base level in shadows of the empire for some reason...

thanks, I plan on having lots of items that can be breakable, explosive crates and what not. There are many locations from the film including the Ion Control center, hanger bay for falcon, hanger bay with snowspeeder(s), command center and possible side passages that can be caved in on players (still experimenting). The best part is the map is about the size of Mb2_Arena so people can expect to get a lunarbase experiance here, the objective is for imps to disable the falcons engines so it cant escape.

You should probably use the architecture style on the jka sp map(s). I loved how the maps looked and felt in sp. I hope you put your best effort into this map, since it's probably one of the most popular Star Wars battle location. I'll be particularly picky about it since I love Hoth :p

Endor was barely a battle (atleast planet-side). It was more like a large skirmish with maybe 100 Imperials, a few AT-ST's, some Rebels, and tons of teddy bears. Hoth was a real battle. AT-AT's, AT-ST's, tons of troops, General Veers, Snowspeeders, Rebel Troops, Anti-Vehicle and Anti-Infantry turrets, a shield generator, and an incredible landscape for a battle.

I would hardly consider hoth an incredible landscape.

If you spawn tauntauns in mb they make your screen go all jumpy if you're not on another vehicle....
The walls arent exactly hoth-like. They need to look more organic (Boulders of snow etc).
lindsey theres a raven map model of the hoth tunnel walls in base in case you didnt notice..
yea I noticed but I want mine to be unique :p

lin keep it like it is...ur doing great one thing will take care of ur areas....u need dim fog....that would take care of the shaprp edges and blocky corners.....and if ur not good with fog...ill do it for ya if ud like..\
but beleive me ..FOG IS UR SNOW-MAP FREIND!!!!!!!!!!!

the wall texture is too bare and repetive. Use another one or add detail to the wall .. some ornaments, hell even trim textures would fit.
well I only started the area last night and worked on it for like 15 mins :D

there will be two objectives imps will need to complete in any order to win the round, one is disable the falcons engines, the other is to destroy backup rebel Snow Speeders in the other hanger.
Looking good, this will deffinately be your best map to date.

You cant "steal" icons. You simply find them off the net and "use"them for you avatar.

An icon is a little picture you use for links on your desktop.
The picture you have right next to your posts in the forum is an avatar.
And since when do you own that pic? LucasArts has the copyright for it.
just an update, ive been doing a little re-arranging of the map because I felt it was too big for the kinda people who know Deathstar well ;)
The map should enter testing within a few days for those I have on my "to send map to" list, atm I'm fixing the FPS in falcon hanger, connecting a passage and redoing a passage with low ceilings.
