What the hell? Look at the videos. It looks...nice. Looks like MBII might get some competition. They actually made the laser sight and scouter thing work. Wonder how good of a computer you'd need to run it, looks like it may be hell for most people. (how did they do all that anyway? Is this a joke?)
But I do like how the ships are actually big enough to fit people (no offense)

You gotta agree, that effect looks sick..
It looks like a Nuke went off.
Seriously, the only major differences are nicer textures on the weapons and a bit of lense flare on the weapon firing.

I'm sure Mace can shed some light on this.
I don't really remember much about it, even though I have access to the information, but I'm pretty sure that screenshot is a mix of the TD explosion and damage fog. Mace could probably correct me if I'm wrong.

I really, REALLY want that E-11 First person.
Lol. I think that's Laam's new model. I really should read up on what's going and start contributing more as an Advisor like I'm supposed to. :<

Cinematic system is great, impressive work with the post-processing and camera effects.
Seems like that embeetoo isn't the only expensive mod
edit : It's just me or they have über visuals as the main thing ?
Too bad they haven't buffed NPC AI :p In the vid tuskens fail as hard as in basejka

They said they will.
1. Is the AI still as stupid as base JKA? As in, do they shoot each other while standing in front of the other?
1) Currently they are, but in the future we do plan on making them A LOT more intelligent and more difficult.

They said they will.
It's impossible to make them more difficult. The SP AI is immovable. All you can do is script the crap out of it so they can take cover or give them the CLASS_REBORN flag so they can roll around and actually attempt to dodge your shots.
MP is a different story though. With OJP I saw some things I thought were absolutely impossible with spawned NPCs. Weapons switches..melee kicks and grabs..tactical use of force powers..it was scary. Like the AI was acting like it should've from the beginning.
The visuals in this mod are very, very nice. But really guys, try not to expect much from gameplay. You can't do crap with SP. I don't know why these guys don't get it. You can make a great game with the MP engine.
Huge EDIT: I'm an idiot that's exactly what they're doing. lmfao

Hol.E.Crap.
I dare say a partnership is in order.
If only to get that damn sexay E-11 model.
(And those muzzle flash effects can't hurt either.)
Edit: Hell, pretty much everything they got can't hurt here.

I like the visual effects. Can't say I care for most of their animations, although the Deadly Sight one is nice. (And in MBII, would be a good excuse for changing the behaviour of it slightly.)
I'm curious what the FPS hit for some of their stuff is though.
Might want to consider colour-coding the cute floaty damage numbers: eg: white=damage, red=tk, green=healing, blue=fp regen, etc, etc.

It's pretty impressive on the visual side.
As for partnership? Quite a few of the JKA Galaxies devs are also in the MB2 team, so I'm sure there are some stuff that will be shared by both groups.
Looks like **** to me.
Too blurry.

They have some sort of protection thing and said that some of the stuff will never be made to work with other mods (including maps and models). Imagine how awesome it would be if the mods combined their best traits...Will they have a new saber engine?
http://www.moddb.com/mods/jka-galaxies/features/some-features-to-look-forward-to-in-jkg-pixel-shaders-and-more
There have been some discussions going around in the dev section about protection of our work. This is because everything made for JKG, is made for JKG *ONLY*, and we don't want our stuff to be used elsewhere, such as on random servers, or in KOTF lookalike mods...
To prevent people from taking assets from JKG and using them elsewhere (like running the official Tatooine map on your own server). JKG is meant to be there as a whole, and not to be taken apart and having its assets used elsewhere.
The terms of use, which you will have to agree with in order to download and install JKG, will clearly state this as well.
To prevent mods such as KOTF from ripping our models and maps and using them without permission.
And considering 'asking nicely', copyright, licenses and all that doesn't prevent someone from doing this anyway, even if its illegal, I decided to use this measure to effectively prevent it from happening, since they'll be useless outside of JKG.

But then there's this right under all that.
Now, do note that, like we did with Mos Kreetle, we may make public releases of some assets, which will - of course - not have this protection on them, so they can be used by anyone, anywhere. Although those assets, especially maps, will most likely be a little different from the official versions.
I'd probably say stuff like the graphical effects, weapon models, and mayyyyyyyyyyyybe the animations might get freed, since those are probably the easiest things to let go, and they're not as heinously stolen like maps and such.
Well MBII would also have that type of protection from the start. Thing is, I think there's an issue with Mac PCs not being able to get it or something. Mace should be able to clarify this one better.
this looks great....any idea when this will be released?
Hmm. I'd like to see how they did their protection scheme...
It's actually pretty simple but very effective. I'm pretty sure that we'll have it too if we don't find any limitations to our mod that come with it.
If such effects are made to MB2 they MUST be made toggleable.
(I'll assume everyone understand why :p)

Surely you guys can't be serious that you'd have the same kind of additions if it wouldn't restrict it windows-based operating systems? I might be underestimating the developers here (please do prove me wrong), but I doubt anyone would pull these tricks off without first throwing themselves in the lions pit and learn how to write and read assembly.

Nonsense, WE SHALL FIGHT IN THE BLOOM!
Hmm. I'd like to see how they did their protection scheme...
Indeed, I read about the anti-rip thing and I'm thinking "how is that possible?".
What did they do, use an arbitrary storage file to replace PK3s or something? New file formats that can only be read by their own special programs? Hacking the OS? Passworded PK3s?

DARN YOU SP!
I am stuck with trying to script cutscenes into SP with idiotic AI?
Why do I keep hearing people say combine teams? Why would it even help?
Current mods already usually help each other since the main purpose is to keep JKA alive.. Also most known mappers like Mace, SJC, Plasma, Darth Norman and Yzmo are friendly against people who request permission for a real use. It would still be better if we didnt have to have .map files to really do anything. (Dont even get me started on people who give you permission but won't supply you the .map file)
Because we give you permission to use our work (assets mainly), not edit it.
We folks stick together with people we know because trust and previous background gets projects going much faster (and sometimes even finished!) than a something that starts as "Hi, my name is Tim and I have a very very cool mod idea can you help?"..
I'm not attacking your mod here, but it's essencial that you understand that you need some sort of "reputation" to get the goods flowing to your side. Get what I mean?

OMG I totally lol'd so hard at that!
We all like thier blurry **** ... Lets make our own without embeetoo blowing into dust ^^
The whole grayed out blurry dieing thing would be epic for dieing in MB2 XD
Edit: it would also be epic combined with a slow-mo effect lol

i'm not too fond of jka effects, as anyone can just edit it and get an advantage (cheat) over ther players, so it's quite pointless.
I say that poisons should make blurry view to affected ppl
since we already have MT and blind
Tallfire
14-04-2009, 22:24
Blind should be eviscerated or made to where you can see a little bit and possibly more fp drain.

They might make them unchangeable...
Well they better make it have an on/off cvar.
Why?
It is anti-tim protection.
Because I like my model and effect replacements.
and it's totally not because you're turkish !
or sometimes post in a manner that gets you banned or accused of being tim!

Looks impressive.
That E-11 looks like an updated version of the one from the Dark Forces TC (which, of course, is in MB2 already). The thermal det first person model is the same from that TC as well.
Also, that motion blur is nice, but looks like they should tone it down some.
