ok, i was typing this post a minute ago on a thread, but i figured i wanted more peepz to see it so i copy/pasted it below here ( please post all of your ideas, and dont scorn me too hard :( )




there is already a hailfire droid model, and a republic gunship model also, they just have to be study by movements from the movies and be modified for mb

(abilities such as, turning, lasers, missiles, heavy armor, speed (expensive), and a choice of having a cargo of troopers that you can transport would be a good POINT SETTING for rep gunship, and yes i beleive mb vehicle battles would be wonderful with all-terrain vehicles/ships having customed point settings so that they would be more exact, and maybe making exact hitboxes (difficult work) so that if blaster fire hits side of a wing , the vehicle doesnt just explode but slowly lingers and gets damage.



picture this, an endor with at-sts and rebel speeder bikes + spawning off with a substantial amount of armor and different point settings ( speeder being fast and more accurate rather with at-st being more powerful but lacking in the other such abilities ). Include it where if they choose to be a vehicle class they are spawned above, in the open near-wooded area, and if they are any standard mb class , make them spawn underground bunker, which could be exactly connected to the vehicle battle map above, but only where they can leave the battle below and use underground shooting posts through using tunnelways projecting up from the imp base/sheild gen area into those shooting post ( meaning they can help fight the vehicles, but not do large amounts of damage , lest using large explosives or high firepower like turrets)



hows it sound?

I do appreciate what you're saying, using the mb points system a vehicle mod would probably turn out pretty uber (assuming we were around to balance it :p )

However, its a hell of a lot of work. Would need different maps, lots of models, a ton of new code. Can't happen, sorry.

Anyways, i figured it could be a small side like project to see what it can turn into like 1 map that can have all of this done done to it, i know it can happen and it would take forever, but if there is a tutorial or coding or something, then it would make me REALLY happy to do that or something else i can learn by study, and have helping hands like cej to do the vehicles with the finding of a map somehow.


please people somebody in some way has to agree..

With the proper coding, we could take advantages of the relatively stable q3 engine to make integrated atv/gunship/trooper maps. my objections are twofold, however:

1) JA sucks at area rendering for high speeds. anything faster than kyle katarn on force speed three just doesnt look pretty. A vehicle map would have to be rather large, which would send the fps to hell in a handbasket anyway. the only solution i can see is the "speed-blurr" effect used in force speed, or in Battlefront for speeder bikes. That solves the framerate problems...but only for grounded vehicles.

2) if this is a trooper/vehicle map, we must realize that the MB classes are not equipped to deal with vehicles. Soldiers have a hard enough time with wooks, let alone an atst with the equivilant of 8000hp and a level 342 bowcaster. it would become a game of hide-and-go-seek. with instant kills. thatd ruin our beautiful lms system. +, this is moviebattles. and in the movies, blasters bounce off the vehicles. we would have to introduce a merr-sonn class. and mines. alias explosive-spamming on hoth base jka siege mode.

Leave MB to ground assault. well, + mandos. and the occasional flying deka.

I do agree with both side's

You would need a AA unit. And a deka couldn't fire agaist the gunship. ETC

And for the other side. Maybe in the Far future. but not right now when the team fixes alot of the bugs in here. "Maybe" they will start on that project.

And when we they make another type of these starwars games and we decided to tranfer to there....

Which will not happen since they have given up on the franchise

About this vehicle idea, almost certainly it will have to remian a theroetical idea. We as a team couldn't even contemplate taking on stuff on of that scale at this stage, even assuming it could be balanced out - somehow...

Indeed.

Combine this with (as someone else already mentioned) the JKA engine not really being suited for large-scale vehicle combat and MBII being designed for small skirmishes (and not large scale battles) and you'll see why you shouldn't get your hopes up.

IF (key word here... i've heard it's not happening) another JK is made and vehicles there are better, maybe a similar mod will come. Wait and see i guess.

Acidus, I believe he meant: MB was a hell of a lot work as well.
Meaning, it's still possible to create what he wanted, even though it will take a lot of work

Why don't you guys make MB3 (or whatever number :P) for UT? Onslaught mode has vehicles. There wouldn't be different classes then though. Hmm.

There's a mod for BF42 called 'Galactic Conquest' which is Star Wars based, has vehicles and since Battlefield is class-based.. :rolleyes:

1) We're not finished with MBII.
2) I think quite a few of us would not be interested in making a MB3.

problem is that none of the newer games have the animations or a saber system to work on.
