Weapon to melee switch bug

Hi everyone,

this thing happened to me enough times to be 90% sure it is a bug and not my stupidity.

When you want switch to melee from any firearm and kick quickly, it happens from time to time that weapon is switched, you have empty hands, icon of MELEE is highlighted, but no matter how much you press right mouse button, kick won't come out. You simply run/walk into direction of your wanted kick (or kicks if you try pressing RMB more) for about second before it finally performs some kick.

Well, since you have to switch on melee right before saberist's face (or be legslashed) usually this bug (if it is bug) ends in you being killed while others ROFL on you.

If it is my stupidity, then please tell me what happens that kick cannot be performed for so long even tough I have MELEE on for sure.

Affected classes: Soldier, Commander. I don't know if it applies on other classes with classic punches/kicks/lamegrabs melee as I play soldier/commander most of the time.

Yeah, the switch from weapon=>melee is kind of slow.

It interferes with the secondary=>fists strategy for wook.

And makes awesome jedi WTFMELEE attacks harder.

Yeah, that long time it takes to switch from melee to melee really hurts melee jedi.

I don't care about w00Ks and their melee, I am talking about classes with good ol' punches/kicks/lamegrabs.
W00k CAN hit crouched saberist, so he doesn't have to switch to melee so close to enemy to make sure he has at least some chance his attack connects.

I don't get you. If you mean that kicking saberists is easy, then you haven't probably met some guys I meet on servers I play regulary. Awesome legslashers/Q3ers.
Kick is the only way to do something to them as 2 lives solda (no grenade), but those bastards duck the moment they see you have empty hands. So you have to do it really close and then this bug happens and you are toast.

And if you meant that it is harder for saberists to switch between melee and saber, then again I don't care about saberists. They have glowstick. I am talking about Soldier, Commander. Affects probably saberists as well, tough. If it is global bug in classic melee (affecting all those who use it) then it is applying on like 80% of classes.

But I would like DEVS to answer wheter it is bug or feature....
