Imperials or Rebels and why?
And keep it civil....

I like playing Imps cause Rebels are the bad guys. Also I dont like going against lightning and grip whores which is all Sith seem to be when they fight me.
As a gunner I at least have a descent chance of killing a jedi. Very slim chance on killing a sith who won't actually come and fight and just uses a press of the button for instant win.

All IMHO

Whell I chose imps b/c I personaly think sith is mroe fun then jedi, more ways to kill your enimeys. Mandas are really fun and im startin to get good with them, and with the right team set up dekas can be killing machines.

(those are just my 3 fav classes for imps)

Once build 17 comes out im gona try arcs a lot more. Right now dex is glitchy and has a habbit of shutting itself off at the worst moments. It can be very frusterateing. I like wookkiees too, I think the coolest thing would be an entire team of wookkiees.

rebs
1) they have the pwnage class of the ARC
2)they dont have force abusing sith...
3)they dont have jet pack flaming mandos

i like a team that relys on skillz not on noob force powers that give you automatic killz at the press of a button... IMO

You cant choose between. Jedi have heal, Sith have grip. etc heros are better classe than villian. Jedi have stronger defense or something like that. When i am jedi i can heal bug. But when i am sith i can grip whore. ETC wheres the Neutral one?

Not voting on this one because it goes by map for me...

Lunar: Either: Sith, Deka, Wookiee, Manda, or Soldiers

CC: Imps almost always, the run from reb base is annoying ^_^;; and i prefer the sith classes too

Jabba: about the same as lunar

Tantive: Rebs almost always (the run from imps, and classes)

Theed: Usually imps for manda, sith, or deka

ACiDuS

I like specific classes really.

I really enjoy playing a mand in a hectic game.

Really enjoy using clone or wookie against a sith.

When it comes to duels I have to say I prefer jedi to sith, but for anti-gunner I prefer sith to jedi.

sbd are fun now and then too, when subtlety goes out the window.

Soldiers are always good too.

I basically like both sides equally, but I love being evil, so I will choose imperial ever so slightly more often.

Rusty
04-03-2005, 12:15
Honestly, to me it seems imperials tend to win more often, but anyway, on with who I think is better.

I think both teams have their advantages and disadvantages, imperials have the deka and mand, whilst the rebels have the hero and wookiee. (All four of the classes I consider fun, expect when I'm pulling weapons with sith).

Depending on what team I am on, I am going to either hate or love a certain class, I would hate clones on imperials, but love them if I was on rebels.

To be honest, whichever team gives me the most fun and deadly form of class will be my favourite... so both.

*edit*

Right now dex is glitchy and has a habbit of shutting itself off at the worst moments.Dex turns off when you switch weapons or when you fire the clone gun. Not all that glitchy.

And if you guys dont like playing a class with a no skill win option like lightning or grip or flame thrower (flamer isn't as bad as the other two), then don't use them. Personally I use flame when fightning Jedi, but i'm not all that good at flame and the jedi usually gets me, probably cause of my key placement. But I dont use grip or lightning when I'm a Sith. i think its a cheap and n00bish way to win. And personally i hate fightning Sith who can't beat me without doing that. So I don't use those powers.

I prefer the Imperial side since I don't like most of the Rebel classes.

Rebel soldiers are often less effective because on most maps, the Rebels attack, and three reinforcements when you're attacking isn't usually very effective, unless there's several other soldiers as well.

I've never really liked the Clonetroopers or ARC Troopers, simply because I prefer an e-11 over a pair of inaccurate pistols, or a spammy inaccurate rifle.

I don't like the hero class very much since they can't take much punishment. Even with dodge/heal, they can be easily taken out.

The Wookiee class is the only one that I'd want to use, but I'm not very good with it.

As for Jedi, it's usually the only class I'll use if I have no choice but to switch to Rebels for uneven teams. Though, I feel like a hypocrite since I hate Jedi spam as an Imperial.

Imperials/CIS:
Count Dooku; I just freaking love this guy and his kickass moves
Darth Maul; Staff spammer I only can wield the staff with him, it sets the mood.

Rebels/Republic:
Mace Windu; Black and pink, baby
Qui-Gon Jin; One of the best heros in SW
Alpha(Cartoon/Comic); ULTIMATE ARC he kicks ass, even when he isnt doing anything.

I choose mainly....Republic... because they have some great classes.

If you have 'pwnage ARC skillz', you can counter those uber 1337 force power 'whores'.

Btw, what should Imperial Gunners say?

Jedi push, then kill someone. Hide if they got shot and heal. Return to the action and do the same over and over again. I also hate it being pushed down, then losing the round, even though I was walking.
Mandalorians without Flame would be a free kill for a low skilled Jedi.

I actually hold a preference to the rebel side. I've been cultivating my Arc and wookie skills as of late, so I suppose I've been predisposed to playing with the blue team.

I've got a few binds centered around my wookie already, so I guess it just works out. :P

I try to play mandy and smack some jedi around once in a while, but with the sith spam that seems to happen a lot, it's hard to do.

Dex turns off when you switch weapons or when you fire the clone gun. Not all that glitchy.

It also turns off when you get pushed 2ce in a row, and if your weapon is pulled from you (item switching), and it doesn't always activate (especialy while your geting up from a push), and it wont work if you are on stairs or in the air.

How comes you always tend to see imperials with the 1 man advantage?

Rojiru

Honestly, I see more people playing on the imperial side than anything else. The one man advantage is clearly seen in almost every game. :P

Ender, I also hate the clone fanboys (looks at Nynja, Corsair, M44, and CT-272 who is MIA thank god :P).
I honestly didn't find anything special about the clones. I mean they end up being mere Stormtroopers anyway so why care about mindless drones who obey everything their masters tell them? Why not fight for a cause because you believe in it, not because you are forced to believe in it due to external pressures?

I love Manda b/c Mandas are neutral. They always were and they always have been the neutral side. The only reason they sided with the Sith/Imps is because in KotOR times Ulic Qel-Dromma defeated the original Mandalore in a battle and thus was given the army of Mandas to command and also the Fetts sided with the Sith b/c of money. What the Fetts did for money is dark sided but they didn't care Jedi or Sith - they did things for themselves. In the same way, Heroes do things for their own purpose not for anyone else's (Solo for example). The difference is the Heroes tended to side with the Rebels or the Jedi or something b/c it was the right thing to do and/or because the Sith or the Empire caused them some trouble.

I love Jedi/Sith because dueling is the effing shizzle even if it isn't nearly as flashy in MB2 as it is in the movies. Even then, the current system satisfies my appetite instead of the crappy base jka system. Not only that but Jedi/Sith are supernatural beings that are respected and/or feared by all. Being looked up to is always a great feeling.

I am not much of a hero player as much as a Han Solo player. The reason I am so specific is because sniping and the e-11 are just basic 'drone' weapons to me. No one tries to apply themselves and try to roleplay any characters but when I play hero that is what I do - level 2 pistol, lvl 3 dodge lvl 3 heal lvl 3 armor lvl 3 ammo and quickthrow (just to spend my 10 pts into something other than tds or other guns) and I am a genuine Han Solo. Daring and arrogant to be running around with a mere pistol but surprisingly still survivng and taking many enemies down with me.

I generally like all the classes but these four are my favorite for those reasons.

Nynja

FYI, only a few Jango clones were present in A New Hope, the Stormtroopers after that were clones of crappy soldiers and real recruits to the Empire. Besides, it was the manipulation of Palpatine that turned them against the Jedi.

The Clones fight for the ideals of the Old Republic. They fight for a cause(despite the corruption-but they did not know it, of course) and fight bravely without faulter against the war machines of the CIS. Aside from their orders, they DO question their lives, they do communicate with their Jedi generals(Star Wars: The Cestus Deception), and they do have FEELINGS towards any death of their comrades(Star Wars: Medstar I, Star Wars Republic Commando).

They were born to ONLY defend the ideals of the Old Republic. Didn't you read my signature Mapex?

Jedi>Sith (Heal)
Clone=Villian (Villian is the only imp class I play)
Hero>Mando (Better for sniping, and can live longer...against gunners that is)
Wookiee> SBD (Melee and therms)
Arc>Deka? lol I can't really compare the two...
Soldier<Soldier (STORMIE SKIN!!! :p )

Villains have to use more tactic. They have to wait behind a box/corner, throw the td and shoot. Clones would just use alt fire spam or alt fire once and shoot..

But honestly Imperials dominate the rebellion and the only reason the Rebs won is because people nowadays have the pathetic desire to see the ''good guys'' win no matter what. If the Galactic Civil War REALLY happened the Rebellion would be slaughtered. END of story.

Uhh no?
Sure the imperials had a 1000 to 1 numerical advantage, but the rebs had the ability to scatter and reform anywhere. The rebs also had a skill difference.

It is one of the most basic lessons taught to all special forces/rangers: a larger occupying force CANNOT be victorious over a smaller native force that has the support of the population (with the addendum: without committing genocide).

But then, the Empire has proven itself willing to commit genocide, so...I'm thinking that the Empire wins regardless of the guerilla methodology of the rebellion.

~Gabriel

P.S. Makes what we're trying to do in Iraq so much more stupid. Every single one of our elite troops is taught never to become involved in the sort of conflict that we're in now. THIS is why presidents should have military experience.

Kolaris
12-03-2005, 09:15
Gabriel, the enemy we're fighting doesn't have the support of the population. We do.

Vox Clamantis
12-03-2005, 09:47
That is simply untrue. Simply because part of the populace (a relatively small, elite part) wants us there doesn't mean that the guerillas don't have the support of the population. So long as they are supplied by, reinforced by, and approved of by a significant portion of the Iraqi people, there really is no way for us to win this fight. The same situation played itself out in Vietnam with first the French, then the US; in the Philippines; in Africa during the 19th century; in the English occupation of Ireland (we're still seeing some of the residual effects); etc.

I'm not making any judgements about whether or not we're doing a good thing (I do judge, but I haven't made any statements), nor about the nature of American propoganda or foreign policy - but it is unreasonable to state that the US occupation of Iraq is something supported by even most of the population - much less that we have the almost universal support that would be necessary to render the "terrorists" incapable of conducting an effective guerilla war.

In the end, wars are won in the minds of the conquered. Rome understood this; it endeavored to integrate the cultures of the people it conquered into its own, adopting foreign gods and foreign practices in an attempt (successful, I might add) to pacify their defeated foes. Modern imperialist powers such as Germany, Japan, Britain, the US, Russia, and France are too wrapped up in their national identities to even consider this sort of compromise, and as a result have been mired down with secondary conflicts in every area they attempt to conquer. Examples: Korea, Africa, Poland, France, Afghanistan (when the Russians went in OR when we did), Iraq, the Philippines - this is not some crackpot theory of my own devising. This is something that is, as I said, taught to every single career soldier or officer.

The real answer is this: if the Iraqis DID approve of our presence, there wouldn't BE a sustainable insurgency.

~Gabriel

Let's get back on-topic people. This is a Star Wars/mb2 thread, not a political thread.

I've noticed that the Imperial classes in mb2 are often easier to learn and use than the Rebel classes. The easiest classes on the Rebel team to use are the soldier and the clone, while many of the other classes take a lot more time and patience to master.

ACiDuS
12-03-2005, 17:15
I think mand is the hardest class to learn personally. In the hands of a novice a mand is barely more powerful than a soldier, but give it to an expert and the class becomes very powerful.

My best class would have to be the Arc. Though they kinda lose their effectiveness if you're up against two or three Sith and lack grenades or rockets. Second best would be Jedi, though I'm by no means an expert at Jedi yet.

After that I'd say I'm pretty decent as everything else on the Reb side. I tend to spam the blob with clones so I don't play them much, soldiers I can be decent, as with heroes.

Rebs all the way! I personally like rebs when i get bored.
1. Melee Wooks, to bash your opponents to death and leave only humiliation
2. Rocket ARC troopers, never get tired of seeing ppl get blown up with missles, I like explosives :p
3. Suicide Soldiers, only worth killing jedis and explosives :D
4. Quick Throws nading Heros, again with Jedi and explosives only with more hp and 1 life
5. Mind Trick Jedi, this is a last resort, mind trick then melee ppl to death, if u can avoid fire.

Stilgar's not an idiot...
Any man who lives on the most inhospitable planet there is so he can eat worm poo to prolong his life should be considered an idiot.

While many have voted in the Rebel's favor, I can still clearly see that the Imperials are always the team with the extra man, or the overwhelming odds.

I find most of the Imperial classes to be quite fun to play. For the most part, they are more mobile than the Rebel classes, in my opinion. While I enjoy playing the versatile Wookiee class, the Sith, Mandlorian, and Bounty Hunter offer enough customization that I generally prefer playing the Imperial faction.

Whiteshark alot of the people who vote Rebs have imperial or evil avatars...it just shows how foolish they really are.

Funny this voting started in B16...I wonder how the poll would turn out now. Most likely the same because of the new blob and triple 3 jedi, and the lack of Offensive force out on the battlefield.

Clones weren't part of the Rebel Alliance.

They belong to the Empire.

And since Palp orchistrated the whole war, the Droids do too.

So let's see the SBD/Clone armies, Devs.

Bwahahahaha.

Whell I chose imps b/c I personaly think sith is mroe fun then jedi.
Aye, cept for when the clone rifle is running rampant among the ranks of the rebels. Jedi don't have to worry about that. I like the Imps, love Mandas, SBDs are cool, Sith. On Rebs I like more classes, Hero, Jedi, Arc, Wook, Elite Sold, but I don't like them as much as Ilike my Imp classes. I use sold for each team from time to time as well, but I don't use the alt frag unless it's on someone else who uses alt frag :) And it still works <_<

Rebels because the Jedi have the heal ability, the ARC rockets, and I like playing on the side of Good.

Imperials. They have style. Rebels have furry killing machines though, i like that also, their ET has my favourite gun, and jedi have some more saber variety, but sith have the black robes...

We might want to start this thread over again how b17 came out and some people might have changed opinion (even though some people already posted for b17). I saw the beginning of this thread and it was talking about b16.

I believe I might be able to reset the poll if I get enough good feedback on the idea.

Rebels...so I can play as Old Ben with mindtrick and speed to sneak around like a dirty little boy.
Imperials...so I can go Jango Fett on miscellaneous Jedi scum.
Hard to choose..Im undecided, I like both equally.

Imps edge out rebs by a little bit, i like to play sith/BH/jedi/hero the most but i like BH better than hero by a bit (unless no sith are around, then hero is my favorite by far)

Imps except for Tantive Marauder taught me not to go up the elevator he was a arc with 3 rockets camping the place out didnt have to worry about killing a teammate because of radar and you cant send the elevator up without going up it was only 5 people so we couldnt send teammates in there and make him empty his rockets on them.
