Make three tunnels, not just one, in a triangular pattern (you know, like spaced from each other like a pie cut in 3..argh)
Make them tunnels be spawn points for imps, and the center for rebs.

there are 3 tunnels, yes they are the spawns for imps, rebels atm spawn up in those stands but I could place them in the center instead. The map needs to be low detail cause of the fact there could be 32 playermodels in the area at one time. There are under 200 brushes in the map so I feel that will work out well.
its Mustafar where Obi fights Anakin. :P

my 2 cents
1. make something to hide behind, SMALL tho like the carriage anakin and padme were on.
2. make the walls REALLY tall and have a stairway from the imp spawn tunnel up to the top floor(where dooku and jango were).
i figure that way its balenced, Jedi cant jump up and rebs atleast can hide while being bombarded with incoming fire.
other then that its PERFECT
But jedi should jump up... only to be killed in three shots by Jango.

Wont be much problem in FA cos they might even sort out the weapons, ie. Jango never had an e-11 or a sniper so pistols only, and he had no rocket, etc etc
He had a rocket, but didnt wear one because he didnt know 'Jedi' was gunna be there

On FullAuth mode I will pretty much take the Jango Fett spot for myself and do what Jango did NOT do - kill Windu. I will NOT do what Jango DID do - dive to try to get Windu's saber but instead get stampeded on by a creature. I WILL do what Jango DID do - shoot those damm creatures to hell.
In B17 I hope there aren't crappy jetpack eff ups so I can be my Jedi killing self until I run out of fuel.
As a Jedi I will be Obi-Wan and be pwnz0ring teh Acklay with my blue saber and slashin droids alive.
I will also hope to be slashed in two spots by Dooku but not be killed, only to have Noobakin save my life.

Linds - if you can try to make a hangar area where the Dooku duel happened that can be accessed somehow - I think the Rebel objectives would be to eliminate the NPCs and to destroy Dooku's ship before it gets away.
Also, to prevent Linds being a noob and using Lunarbase SA/FA scripts again, these were the setups in Geonosis:
Separatists:
1 Manda (jango skin, lvl 3 pistols, lvl 3 armor, lvl 3 ammo, flamer, lvl 3 fuel) (u can put a rocket here if u want but Jango used it in Kamino vs Obi-Wan and may not have had time to restock, that is, if Geonosis did not have any rockets for him)
1 Sith (dooku skin, mainly saber user - form2 stance if its made available in b17, lvl 3 lightning, lvl 3 push, some forceblock)
Many SBDs - not unlimited but put a cap so enough ppl can be SBD (2 hull str, 2 firepower, 2 recharge boost, 3 ammo or something that makes them a few steps weaker than if they were at 80 pts)
Unlimited - Battledroids (everything but TDs)
Republic:
1 Obi-Wan and 1 Mace (lvl 3 Force Block, mainly saberist - lvl 3 push, lvl 1 seeing, lvl 3 jump, maybe some heal as well)
1 Anakin (lvl 1 Force Block maximum, mainly saberist as well)
Many generic Jedi (many in terms of the comment I made about SBDs) (lvl 2 Force Jump maximum, lvl 3 push, saber skills, not too many powers otherwise) (Ki-Adi, Kit Fisto, Alora, Coleman Trebor, , and Sirne just b/c she's hot)
1 Padme (level 2 or 3 blasterpistol, depending on what B17 has in store for us, lvl 3 dodge/heal, level 3 ammo, level 3 armor, no TDs)
Many Clones (same comment as SBDs) (lvl 2 rifle, reinforcement, ammo/armor)
I didn't go too indepth here but basically the generic Jedi in strength as well as the clones are equal to the numerous SBDs and battledroids, no explosions whatsoever, Manda and Sith are kind of matched up with the 3 important Jedi and the hero. Dooku and Windu should be the strongest, skill point wise, followed by Jango and Obi (they were about equal)...then Anakin...then Padme in terms of every single character in this battle. Everyone else are just drones. Yeah, that's right Nynja. You lame clones are simply drones. HAHAHA! NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU! Now time for me to pick up some chicks while you sob about your broken DC-15.
Very in-depth Mapex, I have learned since Theed about how to put in SA which is why DS has it. FPS is very good in the arena due to the fact there are onnly about 150 faces visable in the area, and I am attempting to make the arena look bigger by using stair textures to force a perspective. As for the hanger duel, it sounds cool but in the film Dooku flew across the geonosis desert to the hanger, so unless I put the hanger in the arena (which I might do as well as add the command center where the deathstar plans were exchanged)

lindsay, i would like to say please dont do, that if i may say so , watch episode 2 again, and play the geonosis map on battlefront, the command center was in the middle of the clone battle, not in the geo arena, also i think if you put all your attention onto the arena it will be a glorius map

Jedi Code and all that... he was trying to capture them. Of course he might've had more luck if he hadn't gone alone.
In the book Shatterpoint, Mace has a flashback to that moment, when he steps up there he has the chance to kill one of them, Mace knew that in the time it would take to kill dooku, Jango would have killed him. Mace identifying Jango as the more dangerous of the two put his saber at Jango's neck. (This causes considerable turmoil for mace, because he thinks that war would have ended if he killed dooku)

note: ignore the white texture on the balcony, its a small shader error. I gave the arena some more orange floor texture, and made a texture that looks like seat rows, but inreality is only one brush, saves a ton of FPS load.

I think you'd be better off using brushes instead of curves fps wise.
or, you could use the -patchmeta compile switch. That really helps FPS (makes patches more brushlike, i.e., less rounded).

In response to why Windu didn't kill Jango or Dooku - a Jedi's goal isn't to die for the cause - the Jedi has to survive in all cases b/c what if he is the last of the Jedi or strongest of the Jedi (he was the 2nd strongest at the time)? If he dies then everything could change for the worse.
Anyway, if Jango was so dangerous why the hell did Lucas kill him off so easily. I was hopin to see Boba get revenge against Windu in Ep3 by using a whole hoard of friends or something but I guess that isn't going to happen b/c Lucas is crap. Sure it sounds retarded to have a....15 to 20 year old bountyhunter take out Windu but not retarded if he was tricked into it - after all, the Jedi's vision was clouded by the Dark Side at this time.
Anyway, yeah, Jango lost one pistol in Kamino against Obi-Wan but based off B16 a single Westar isn't nearly powerful enough to help the only Mandalorian in the map against numerous Jedi and clones. Hell, the hero will outpistol him b/c heroes get dodge and heal. If B17 Westars are made more realistic will staying balanced I can retract my statement. BTW Windu didn't pwn Jango. Lucas pwned Jango b/c Lucas is an old fart who really does need to give his SW project to me and stop makin movies altogether - Indiana Jones IV he's workin on with Spielberg with an old Harrison Ford - it will be retarded.

I just made it so if the rebels stay in the center of the map long enough, a gunship (or two, still testing) will lower to the ground and allow the rebels to get on and escape thus winning a round for the rebels.

Mapex, Star Wars is his saga, whatever way he makes it, is what we (viewers) will have to accept; like or dislike.
On paper it is his, and he is free to ruin it over and over. In reality, its the property of the children who grew up with it, and the fans. Without the fans it would be less than nothing, and lucas's attitude has turned a once adored saga into a laughing stock.
Theres a whole bunch of more talented directors who could have done it justice, but that fat little bearded untalented egomaniac is too far up his own crevice to admit that he might not actually be the best thing since sliced bread.
If you don't appreciate Lucas's work, why bother to even LIKE Star Wars in the first place? It's his work for us to enjoy, not to criticize.
Thats a really stupid attitude. Bad films deserve criticism, bad directing deserves comment and complete arrogance and self assuredness in the face of all negative feedback deserves a fanbase turning on him.
Most true star wars fans (people above a certain age) love the original trilogy.. and still pray the saga could return to such greatness. Lucas has taken total credit for the ot (although frankly, I think they were good despite him, rather than because of him), and now he takes total blame for the pathetic prequels.

I really don't think there's anything wrong with the prequels, I mean sure the OT is good, But i don't know why all of you are absolutely in love with it and hate the prequels. In my honest opinion i think they're roughly equal. (Although i'm a terrible judge of acting talent.... they all seem the same to me)

Geonosis by default, whether in normal or FA mode, should disable TDs, rockets, and sniper rifles just b/c they will make the map not fun to play as it will be purely spam or wh0ring of some sort. That would be pretty nifty. If this feature isn't considered and/or isn't already in B17, then I don't plan on playing Geonosis unless its on an FA mode server.

I never saw the OT until Summer 2004, a few months shy of being 18.
I thought it was great because 1) it didn't suck 2) it made sense 3) it got my emotions going 4) it didn't suck 5) same as #1 if I haven't said it already 6) it didn't have stupid retarded characters - everyone played a role that was significant enough to play a role
In response to #6 - Greedy Bugeye was one of the only named characters that died very quickly (whereas there were about 5 of these types of characters in Ep1+Ep2 alone) but he helped represented the scumminess of Tatooine as a whole. Jango died very quickly to show that even the most elite bounty hunters who was able to fend off a hardened Jedi 1v1 can be killed by a Jedi---wait, isn't that a contradiction or something? Exactly my point. Yes Boba Fett died retardededly in Ep6 but if he didn't die (or as EU and I believe, if he wasn't defeated) in the movies then viewers would be like "The galaxy isn't safe! Luke still has to kill Boba!" or something so I do give Lucas some points for makin sure not to leave a very weird cliffhanger-like aspect of the movie in Ep6 but at the same time hated him for not giving a skilled character like Boba a better death.
Anyway, Lindsey, like everyone else has said - try to add some cover like that chariot as well as make the orange (including the sky) more tannish (you should use sand textures from the Tatooine FFA map in Base and probably could use some of the building textures for the stands too).

If you want more realism Take out all hero's besides padme. Leave all SBD's Droideka's and The regular trade fed droid's and have only jango fett. For gunners.
Now jedi/sith Leave all jedi's, take out ben, luke all base jka one's And keep only dooku take out all other models.

There is, unfortunately, a very convenient and realistic explanation for Jango's quick death at the hands of Mace Windu: **** happens. I do realize that expecting realism from a sci-fi series such as Star Wars is may seem ridiculous, but skill really is no defense against bad luck. Jango's death shouldn't be taken as some kind of overriding statement about bounty hunters and jedi, rather as what it is: a plot device to get Boba orphaned.
Look at it this way: in his fight with Obi-Wan, Jango has his son to pull his ass out of the fire. Therefore he survives. In his fight against Windu, he gets trampled by an enormous dinosaur. And dies as a result.
Personally, I think we should be more concerned about the Vader costume. Unless I'm sorely mistake, the boy is about three or four inches shorter than the original. :eek:

Yet again somebody does not understand the difference between MB modes.
Nothing will ever be restricted in Open Mode. Because no restrictions is what makes it Open Mode in the first place.
Sorry if this post sounds harsh - it's just that we have explained this at least 10 times by now.

CerberuS you misunderstood me. You have stated that open mode will mean everything is enabled 10 times, but I have heard it 50 times. I know the purpose of open mode. It's just for some maps some things have to be restricted for any gameplay to exist whatsoever in open mode.
I am sorry for making a quick conclusion on Geonosis - maybe I should wait til its released before opening my mouth. But based off what I see the map being in my head, all anyone will want to be is snipers or TDers on the Imp team making the map a spamfest in open mode, not an actual Movie Battle. This may even detract players from playing the mod if the first server they play is an open mode server on Geonosis - see its a spam fest worse than siege, and then not play ever again based off that one experience.
However, Geonosis may not be so compressed so as to allow the spamfest from occurring AND/OR B17 may have balanced those spammable items so they retain their power but require more skill to use so thus nullifying my argument completely.
Again, I am sorry CerberuS but I stated my suggestion b/c for this map especially (as it seems to be right now with B16's features) some things would be out of control and there would be no more of a battle than a Doomsday device goin off and killing everyone, destroying the purposes of the mod - movierealism, balance, and fun. However, we shall wait til this map and B17 come out before furthering any discussion on this idea of my own so if anyone deserves to take the blame its me alone.

Forgot, for FA mode Dekas are in it too (thanks to whoever for pointing that out) but nearly as numerous as SBDs, which are even less numerous than normal battledroids.
Also, it would be nice to put kind of a twist on FA mode. The 3 main Jedi and the Sith (Windu, Noobakin, Obi-wan and Dooku) should have many of their powers whereas the generic Jedi have much fewer powers. All the droids should be weak enough to be on equal footing 1v1 against the generic Jedi, the Manda and Sith should have an edge, and the 3 main Jedi should be somewhat equal to either the Manda or Dooku in a 1v1 battle (although IMO Dooku should be stronger than Noobakin or Obiwan 1v1, equal to Windu, and Jango should be close to as powerful as Obi-wan but a tad stronger). Until B17 comes out though we won't know what these powers mean. I guess updating the map for B17 is a different story - we should focus on what we have now. For that reason, I will be posting some well thought out points for the classes in a following post.
If some classes are overpowered on certain maps then I put it to you its the fault of the map rather than the mod. A skilled mapper knows the ins and outs of the game when building his map and takes everything into account.
Theres more to it than pretty effects and textures imo. Understanding gameplay, balance and round progression is what seperates an ok mapper from a great mapper.

I guess the arena will be full of snipers, but i don't see how thermals can be spammed in such an open space...

CerberuS you misunderstood me. You have stated that open mode will mean everything is enabled 10 times, but I have heard it 50 times. I know the purpose of open mode. It's just for some maps some things have to be restricted for any gameplay to exist whatsoever in open mode.
No, actually I got you just right. You want to limit items/abilities on certain maps. This is not compatible with the concept of Open Mode: every class and every ability is allowed. We will never put any limits to anything in Open Mode.
I disagree that abilities have to be disabled in order to allow balanced gameplay in Open Mode. There are tons of ways for the mapper to make sure certain imbalances don't occur. No need to cripple certain classes.
But I agree this is OT. Just wanted to make clear that you shouldn't get your hopes up to see any restrictions for Open Mode... because it won't happen.

I very much like the idea of this new map, it will give players the chance to open up in an exhiliarating clash of laser fire and saber slashes. Though those of you sneaky characters will still have a bit of fun in the pit and etcetera. I'm actually looking very much forward to this.
Although, Lindsey, you really should fix your Theed Streets map, Tene's main server uses it frequently.

i'm pretty certain that a server could set up during map rotation a change in mode at the map.
I doubt it'd be that hard,
if its possible that is.
Off Topic: The reason the original trilogy was better is becuase.
Ep4 he couldn't get away with everything, so he didn't and had his movie set up better.
Ep5, Another director directed the movie, Lucas just overviewed it, And he still didn't have perfict freedom.
Ep6, he had 2 other directors, though he did more directing in the end. though by now he could do alot more then he could originaly, which is how the ewoks got in, But its the ending of a trilogy, and its hard to make them bad, if the original movies were good.
(and he couldn't make gungans, due to tecknoledgy. )
