3 Years ago a team of players began work on a Multiplayer RPG mod known as JKA Galaxies, as I am sure you can guess it was intended to be based on the online RPG game 'Star Wars: Galaxies'. The mod was under construction for over a year and was looking very promising. Unfortunately due to real life situations changing for some of the team, they went inactive and the mod drifted away and was not spoken of since, until just this past week.

Sith-J-Cull a mapper and the original idea man for the mod returned to JKA. After some conversations with him, we have revived the mod and begun work, not only him but robophred(creator of lugormod),bobafett(creator of UU) and some others. This will basically be designed as a MMO in JKA, you live like a real person in a real world. You can travel to other planets (tatooine, coruscant and many more). You can go the pub and play a game of cards, you can earn money for your bank account, you can do speeder races, and who knows what else.

If you have any ideas you wish to contribute, or think that you've got what it takes to join the development team, then let us know on the official JKA Galaxies mod forum.

If they pull this off they deserve jobs with, like, BioWare.
Looks cool, did they copy the whole city of Mos Eisley from SWG and make a small scale version of it? Wouldn't that cause a problem?

Just read their forums. They are NOT doing this, but it doesn't sound like it'll be a problemo.

I thought the idea was to use multiple servers? Don't remember exactly, I was reading about it like a year ago before it died.

Binary cluster servers running on Flex 3 technology allowing stats and registration to be connected to website nodes, implemented third-party code from Jedi Outcast, and vector rendering process coding to allow the interfacing of more than 32 players.

Said it for you.

I just hope they use a saber/gunner system reminiscent to MBII.

With Boba on your team you got a good hand on breaking "limitations" on the engine. Best of luck!

I remember being interested in this mod project back when it was being first worked on. Good luck completing it now.

Sounds interesting. I'm sure I'd give it a spin if it's made playable.

It'll be interesting to see how the actual gameplay turns out... Might even be fun...

What would be funny though, is if they started asking for donations for new computers.

I really find it tiresome when people subscribe to our forums and advertise other mods with their first few posts. I have a lot of respect for SJC, but this blatant advertisement has been clamped down on from other projects, so the same must apply.

Our community are free to discuss other mods, but the mb2 forums are not a place of convergence for every jka modder to advertise new projects and post their changelogs.

It is also worth noting that a thread of this sort would be forbidden according to the SWG project's own forum rules.
