First ep was epic, lots of pew pew magic. Made by same people as doctor who I think. Discuss.

Didn't really show much just some random clips from probably 10 shows. I say it lasts 1 season because of Contract reasons.

I thought ep 1 was awful personally. Bad acting and a predictable, even worse storyline.

Sad that the Brits would bugger their own national legend on public broadcast. What the hell has become of the world?

[Edit]

Keeping on topic; I thought it was 'ok' but it was utter crap at the same time.

I don't think that my question deserved an answer that made no sense, as my question was logical. I expected Merlin to look like an actual apprentice magician, not a random dude who looks like a nerd. :|

i thought when that guy who morgana stabbed was found alive they would be like let's tell everyone he's alive then go wait in the room with him to see who comes to finish him off but no that would be too clever writing- instead they just leave him to get murdered

Bro, the Sherlock miniseries was excellent. I don't understand why they kept this **** but only made 3 episodes of Sherlock it was great.

SpongerobertoSquarepantalones

I agree, Sherlock was brilliant. But it's just a miniseries. Those usually consist of 6 45-minute episodes. This one just did it in 3 90-minute episodes. They have confirmed a second season... next year :/

Merlin... I really like it. It doesn't take itself to serious. That other fantasy series, Legend of the Seeker, often tried to be serious but ended up being just embarrassing (the Harry Potter effect).

And yea, Ford, I thought the same.

It's really not good. I was watching it and the main actor lacks the experience to pull a part like this off. Good actor for the old man though.

Ford
13-09-2010, 22:42
it's painful to see the characters not evolve at all unless you count morgana suddenly turning into a grinning psychopath (which i dont because it's retarded)

Ford
20-09-2010, 13:09
Why didn't they just starve them out? They had all the knights, all the townspeople, and all the people from the surrounding country side. I thought that would have been the obvious thing to do. When the king made the speech about the hero at the end I knew instantly it was going to be morgana but the writers are so dumb they think the audience will think he'll say merlin.

Not as silly as Merlin & Gaius last episode imo.

I myself wonder why on earth Morghause doesn't suspect Merlin of having magic yet. Isn't she supposed to be really smart?

Though I'm nitpicking; I still love watching :P

I find it ironic that Ford made this thread.

I HATE this show. It's hard to think how they could have ****ed up the idea of a camelot tv show more. It is disrespectful, childish and idiotic.

I meant because it's a fail show, that's all ford ;) God damn you for starting a Merlin thread though..I was kind of excited at the idea of a Camelot show and you've clearly jinxed it.

The only reason I hear about this show at all anymore is I know someone who watches it, and even HE hates it. He just moans about it constantly, why does he even watch it?

You're moaning about it here! WHY DO YOU WATCH IT, IT'S AWFUL.

WHY DO YOU WATCH IT, IT'S AWFUL.

It's because of the deus ex machi...dragon. He periodically burns stuff and kills people. They do it often enough to keep people coming back. :P

3 episodes + 1 unaired pilot episode which I'm yet to see. 1+3 are superb, 2 is very good. Another season is in the works for autumn 2011.

If anything significant changed the writers would have to work more than 1 day a week. Can't blame them for keeping alive an easy gig.

I spit on this show. Peeweeerrrrwweee.

07-12-2010, 13:22
Personally I love this show, and I disagree with you Ford not everyone is loyal to him, nobody tried to help him at all apart from his own son and the few people his son could actually round up, Uther has also obviously lost his mind and it's Arthur's time to step up. Morgana is out as evil now so that opens new avenues for storylines, all that's really left is for Merlin to be outwardly magic.

So acidus, I use your spit on this show with a cloth for a lovely little spit shine, this **** rules.

I just watched the first of the new season and it's like they did a complete 180 with the writing and directing- it seems like a different show with the same characters/actors.

Is that good, or bad?

SpongerobertoSquarepantalones

It depends I guess.

Originally Merlin wasn't a very serious show. It had cheesy moments and silly moments but in general, since the show wasn't really trying to be srs bsns, it didn't bother all that much (I guess in that aspect it's rather similar to Doctor Who). By comparison, at the same time Legend of the Seeker was running, and there the hammy scenes made me gag because it was really taking itself seriously.

Now, even though there have only been a couple of episodes, it seems they have changed their approach. To the people who were bothered with the way Merlin was almost a children's show, it might be a good thing that they've taken this turn. Personally, I kinda miss the old charm.
