On 'Super Open Sundays", the FA server will be put onto Open mode and some of the awesome Open maps will be played

THIS WEEK'S SELECTION (starting at around 7 p.m. American EST):

Corellia
Star Destroyer
Dust 2
Jabba
Tatooine
Tantive IV

If we have time we'll do Lunarbase and Trade Fed afterwards.

(Each week features a different rotation, but will only include the best Open maps)

If any of you Americans wish to enjoy something other than DOTF 24/7 even for one day come and join the carnage at the Full Authentic 24/7 server.

Most of those servers are either locked or have one-map rotations. Or, in the cases of many players, have poor pings.

Meta you should have DOTF in your rotation.

I mean granted you have all the other ones but just shove it in there because its, becaise its well DOTF!

Also take out sailbarge, sail barge FAILS big time on open, I mean talk about bad spawn points.

If anyone wants to play DOTF they can go play it on the 30 other servers that offer it 24/7.

As for Sailbarge, the map is more of a novelty map obviously, but it has one of the most unique and dynamic experiences on open mode compared to most other maps. The Rebels absolutely have to use teamwork to win, for instance having their Jedi guard the skiffs to stop dive-bombing mandos, but also the need for snipers and other classes to take out the gunners before the skiffs reach the sailbarge and the thermals, grenades, and lasers start pew pewing the hell out of the rebels. Yes, the spawn points are stuffed in some cases (more like luck of the draw though because sometimes you can respawn on the skiff above the Sarlaac or even on the moving skiffs from time to time), but it's balanced by the fact that if you have a competent team that is still mostly alive by the time the skiffs reach the sailbarge, the other team is toast.

I'm all for server rotations but I can see why people dislike them when they have to put up with awful selections. There are a number of maps that people all love in general(lunar, dotf, CC, yavin), but server owners always seem to throw in random maps that empty the whole place out.

I tend to find people squabbling and refusing to play less than their favourite map ever tends to screw rotations and empty things out, personally.

Sailbarge is fun for a few rounds, or with a low number of people. Too crowded and it's just chaos though...
Dust 2 plays fantastically in general, although it looks terrible and has technical aesthetic issues up the yinyang.
Cloud City's fine for gameplay, barring a few abusable exploits which an admin can monitor easily enough.

But the biggest issue I find is this situation:
A: "Let's change map!"
B: "Yah!"
C: "Yay!"
D: "Excellent idea, let's!"
A: "Okay, which map should we go to? Lunar? Corellia? Yavin?"
B: "WTF LUNAR SUCKS NO! CORELLIA!"
C: "Ugh, not Corellia, let's go to yavin."
D: "wtf losers LUNAR!"
A: ".....or I guess we stay right here. Meh."

If people would just STFU and tolerate playing maps other than their personal favourites for a little while at a time, things would be a lot nicer.

i have to agree partially with stunna, the one thing i hate about sailbarge is the push whoring jedi that forces everyone to go sith or mando, i like options and i dislike being forced to take a class based on map geography and shoddy spam tactics.

btw why are u starting the sunday open so late , ya do know that for people in pacifi this is going to start at round 8-9PM on sunday? when most people have to go early to bed cause of work/school on monday????? :|

This starts at around 5 p.m. American EST. And as for the map rotation this will change each week. Lastly regarding DOTF on Friday that was because CoR was playing a scrim and the team we played desperately desired DOTF.:(

good call Meta. Corellia is, without a doubt, my favorite map to play on Open mode.

I am angered by the lack of Yavin. A godly map if there ever was one.
Yavin is an awesome map. Truely the way an outdoor map should be, ideally.

EDIT: I just realized, I won't be able to participate much. My summer schedule works like this on Sundays:
Soccer 9AM - 11AM, work 12PM - 6:30PM, Frisbee 6:30PM - 8PM.
After that I have my own personal training for D1 track in the fall, whch will take an additional hour - 2 hours, plus a shower, and then I have to be in bed by 12AM so that I can go lift the next morning, haha. I guess if I have time and none of my friends want to do anything, I can squeeze in about 2 hours of this every once in a while.

There's still Saturday. Besides judging from the amount of players that we had today that don't normally frequent FA, it is worth it to give people the chance to play a rotation of good open maps even if only for an evening/night on Sundays.

Your own clan members don't really count to be honest, Clan members tend to stick to there clan server.

Also what about those people that can ONLY do Sunday? The idea is to keep the regulars and the loyalists close to you not push them away for random new people to keep your server looking busy.

I think for six FA days a week people will survive. And as for 'clan members' being the only ones on here today, we've had Ford, Blaze, Max Arial, Sno-Dog, Hic, Lightning and an endless number of people that have a predilection toward Open rather than FA.

I enjoy FA, I just have a hard time finding good, balanced and enjoyable maps...too often the FA server ends up on one of UL's "interesting" FA maps and I have a hard time enjoying myself.

I would even go so far to say that COR should look into obtaining a full time open rotation server. It's been pretty well shown that the best way to maintain a good open rotation server is to have an active clan running it, and since DSI split there hasn't been a clan that's been able to do that. I for one would spend almost all of my MB time playing a server like that..if there only were one...

We tried having an Open server, a couple of different times. They always fail because noobs don't join servers unless the map has the letters D-F-O and T in them. Unless they come into the FA server, thinking they're gonna play some FA lol.

Fully Open Sundays will be on again at the FA server. This Sunday's rotation will keep some of the usual suspects in, but also include some of the other community favourites that didn't feature last Sunday:

Death Star
Theed Streets
Corellia
Star Destroyer
Cloud City
Comm Tower

It will start again at around 5 p.m. American EST and end at around midnight before the server goes back to FA mode again.

Personally, I think the FA server should incorperate some S/A maps into the rotation like Arena. I think Arena wold be awesome on S/A. So far the only S/A map I've seen on the server is Death Arena.

This Sunday's 'Fully Open Sunday' is a little different. The server has an actual rotation this time, which includes several maps that haven't been played yet. Additionally, the server will be on open rotation and maps ALL DAY, not just in the evening/night. Here is the set server rotation for the Sunday Open event:

Cloud City
Jabba
Trade Federation
Geonosis Canyons
Sailbarge
Comm Tower

There are three other maps on rotation after that, but we will most likely go off-rotation when we reach them and play other maps like Star Destroyer, Yavin Assault and other open maps.

Like I said before, Arena, Kash and CIS Labs are part of the rotation, and they deserve to be played as much as any others. I don't know about the other admins but I will not let my choices as to when we go off-rotation or not be affected by your opinions on maps. Nowait, I will, you've made me want to go off rotation more during the first six and made me want to stay on the last ones.

That said, Pilo, have you ever played Sailbarge on open and if so with how many people?

Mashi I've made it clear to the admins that they can't even think of going off-rotation until the first six maps have been played. I think Arena is a great sniper fest on Open, but Kashyyyk and CIS Labs on Open is kinda icky. Also Sailbarge with a full server is one of the most unique experiences you can have on Open mode.

It's generally something that SOUNDS intelligent, but it lacks intelligence as much as it lacks humor. It always made me throw up a bit in school. Today's 'Super Open Sunday' will be starting around 6 or 7 p.m. American EST with the following rotation:

Corellia
Star Destroyer
Dust 2
Jabba
Tatooine
Tantive IV

If we have time we'll do Lunarbase and Trade Fed afterwards.

I will be putting the server on Open and then our server admins will take over and keep the rotation going.

Open mode sundays has been around for a very long time, even back when the FA server WAS popular. the main reason a server remains populated is because back then there were enough CoR members dedicated enough to join it so that the lazy people who hated low pop servers would be attracted enough to join up.

Hopefully, with the release of the new CMP, fa will be revived again.

I used to run Saber Only Sundays. Once a few "saber only" servers sprang up, there was no longer a need. So I started Open Mode Sundays, (sans dotf). If another server owner with cahones wants to do open mode that isn't dotf 24/7... u get teh point.

awwww...I know I'm gonna get flamed, but can u leave jeditemple out for a bit please? It's in there every week, all that happens is noobs come in and stack jedi, then the clones get raped. Unless the clones use perfect teamwork they lose to a team of spammers wth no coordination, much less when teams are usually something like 8-5
