GET YOUR ****ING SERVERS OFF ****ING DOTF 24/7.
I don't give a damn if this sound blunt or rude or obnoxious. All you are doing is perpetuating the DOTF 24/7 phenomenon and it is really killing the mod. People are long since tired of playing DOTF every ****ing time they want to play a game on Open mode and not FA mode. And because your stupid servers are on DOTF 24/7, all the new players to Mb2 are getting brainwashed into playing DOTF 24/7 and thinking that this is the way Mb2 is meant to be played. IT ISN'T. There are loads of great maps out there, not just DOTF. I'm bloody sick and tired of seeing mb2_dotf on the server list again and again and again and again. And every time I go on the abysmal dotf servers, it's always 'zomg let's go main, zomg let's do honor duelz in the gen, zomg let's try and camp throne, zomg lets spam something! zomg dotf!'. It's terrible.
So to all you server owners out there, GET RID OF DOTF 24/7. Let's go through you all:
AOD Pandemonium: For the love of God, you guys were the ones who evolved the DOTF 24/7 concept from being a mere novelty to being the phenomenon it is now. When I interviewed Dakorian for the tournament interview, he claimed that AOD is a 'great map because there's so many ways to play it and it's a great map'. Agreed, DOTF is one of the best maps in Mb2's history, BUT NOT FOR 24/7 PLAY FOR FOUR BUILDS. You also told me that 'we would put AOD on a rotation but we are scared that after DOTF 24/7 for so long, people won't come to our server anymore'. Well how about instead of being scared cowards who are scared of change and scared of anything other than your little DOTF 24 hours, 7 days a week, how about you take the initiative and put it on a damn rotation. Trust me, if people somehow can stand that idiotic admin called KidA, they'll still flock to your server even if it's on a rotation. Hell, you'll find loads more players coming back there if they see it's on exotic maps like OMG corellia or even better TATOOINE or LUNARBASE or let's be really really deviant and play KORRIBAN!
NS Mb2 server: Your server is disgustingly laggy, but people still seem to go there. What's your excuse for having DOTF 24/7? When your server first came up it had DOTF 24/7, why keep it that way? Why not put it on a rotation?
Elite Warriors Mb2 server: Your server is exactly the same as all the rest. DOTF, DOTF, DOTF, DOTF, DOTF, DOTF. Why not do something interesting and put it on another map once in a while eh?
Rogue Squadron: Wow, I really do admire you RS. You stand as the bastion of light! The torch shining some sanity in the face of the darkness and misery that is DOTF 24/7 on 99% of all other servers. You have a rotation of DOTF AND lunarbase!:eek: What I love is how the server fills up on Lunarbase and when it switches to DOTF everyone whines and says 'damn no dotf again'. Isn't that clue enough to all you idiotic server owners out there? The people want LESS dotf and more CORELLIA, THEED, KORRIBAN, TANTIVE, TATOOINE, DEATH STAR, COM TOWER, DUST 2, PRISON, MOUNTAIN KEEP, and the list goes on and on and on and on.
And while we are on it, what the hell is with this new idiotic obsession with Jedi Temple duel on Open mode. I have no idea what crack AOD were smoking when they decided Mb2_duel_jeditemple would be an awesome map to have 24/7 on AOD perdition. I mean honestly, out of ALL of the mb2 maps why the **** would you choose something as stupid as A DUEL MAP. And now Rogue Squadron has followed the trend and put up Jedi Temple duel to their 3 map rotation. It's bloody pathetic.
Other villains include MB Universe, IS server, and the list goes on. The only servers that actually have a rotation and get people are the Full Authentic 24/7 server (the FA mode/map rotation concept that WE went out and split our blood and guts to make popular), DG server, dV[8] server and a few other randoms.
So to reiterate. STOP WITH THE DOTF 24/7. It is killing the mod and anyone who begs to differ is a fool who is burying their head in the sand and pretending nothing bad is happening to the mod. For all of you servers who have maps on DOTF 24/7, TAKE IT OFF DOTF 24/7 and put on a bloody rotation. Over the next few weeks I am going to badger you all on your forums, on your xfire, and in-game because I for one, forgetting of course most of the mb2 community who I'm sure agree, are SICK of playing the one map ALL THE TIME. I love FA mode, but until new maps get released it is somewhat limited at the moment. I want to play Open. I want to play all the wonderful maps that are out there. So does the other couple of hundred Mb2 players.
Please, PLEASE, take your servers off DOTF. It isn't hard, just set a new rotation. If all of the major servers did this, you would have another renaissance of Mb2. Don't be lazy bastards. Don't be scared little cowards. Don't be selfish server population hoarding brats. Do something for the good of the community and for the good of the mod.
