Has anyone played in this during basejka days at all?

It was quite a fun league...lots of competition and such.

It's a ladder system.

Was wondering if maybe MB2 garnered enough support we could push for them to open a Movie Battles league. I may be able to talk to some of the admins because I was once a moderator/admin for the league...

[EDIT]

Here's a thread I made there; lulz

i play/played in CAL and TWL (lol) for BF2 (team progression, p-n*),CoD2 (team breaking point) and i scrim Cod4 alot, i say go for it, mb2's a pretty competitive game even in pubs (public matches) and it needs a league imo.

Yeah,I use to play in ESL all the time back when i played alot. It would be sweet if we could get a whole league for it.

An Mb2 league would be really good, but if it's the ESL would only European teams be able to play on European servers?

I'd play on Euro servers, Hell, I do that every now and then to get away from some of the American players. :>

How the league functions is:

Two rounds. Each team picks a map. The game goes via-time limit (for JKA) or a kill limit (1v1 tournaments are capped at about 10 kills).

Picking a map, usually equivocates to choosing the server, too; especially if the teams are of different countries and/or continents.

So no, Americans, Australians, and Europeans will all play on an assortment of servers.

The format is very similar to your Quarterfinals set-up. The only difference is the win/loss format is based on Ratio.

For instance, if Team A wins the first round, 50-25, they won with a 2:1 ratio and 25 kills. If Team B wins the second round, 75-40, they will have gained a 1.875:1 ratio, with 35 kills.

Team A will win on ratio.

However, with MBII's format, timed matches will be pretty null and pointless. Which makes it a round-win-limit. This would void any of the ratio-gayness.

Yeah, the system would have to be tweaked for American vs Euros/Aussies as we would need to switch sides on each server(or you could just play the whole map on one server record the total number of rounds won/lost then play on American and do the same,if you get what i am talking about hic with the way ESL is formatted for recording the scores.)

Base it on round-wins for halves, like everyone usually does it and is in the tournament.

No offence, but MB2 isn't at a stage compatible for even any half-serious e-sports. Mainly due to ghosting and inability to restrict people on the first person of a team member (Please, team, if you feature this, don't be stupid enough to allow switching team while being dead and seeing the enemy team...)

The Mb2 team are already well aware of the need for a competition mode and the surge of tournaments/competitive mb2 might spur them into releasing it sooner rather than later.;)

Yea, basically, you record scores from the individual maps.

http://www.esl.eu/eu/jkja/tdm/ladder/match/3123334/

So, you would just write your team's score as "10" and the enemy's as "5", if you won 5 rounds as rebels and 5 rounds as imperials, and they won 3 as imperials and 2 as rebels.

Then you would switch maps and do the same thing.

This'd be fun. But yea, ghosting would be a pretty big problem.

I posted but the guy seems to want us to do a 2-3 week cup (ironically something we are in the middle of) and I don't see that being as popular, right after we finish the current one.
Why he can't accept we have a successful 2-3 week tourny on atm, I have no idea:(

Actually that's wrong, unless i'm mistaken.

I play in the tf2 ladder on ESL, and in the EMS/Ladder matches, all matches must be played on european servers. Including USA vs Euro teams, it's gotta be played on a european server.

That's the same for Cod4, but maybe it's different for JKA? Can't see that bieng the case though.

And Gog brought up a topic like this eons ago and no-one supported it. Worth another shot though i guess!

Chewy yup, there is those topic: http://www.moviebattles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14468

Anyway, IMHO Long time league + Mb2 will failed, our community is too weak, to handle it. Seriously, how many "serious" teams we have (in euro)? Just look at Meta's tournament and numbers of registered clans.

Just look at Meta's tournament and numbers of registered CLANS.

You don't have to be in a clan to sign up for the league you could even play on an american team without leaving your original clan aslong as there not in it(or if there ok with you playing in another team) it would work cause we would have not only clans but teams that would end up forming for the league. Also I think it was chewy on the last page talking about how matches have to be played on euro thing is I don't think they do and even if they are its common courtesy to play one match on euro one match on yank servers,Atleast thats what always happend on Base.

I played in the JKA league for close to a year. I was also an admin for JKA. By now, we've established that teams must play both U.S. and European servers (if required).

Trust me, I would know. I had to basically fight for the right to play on our home server....The British were very understanding and supportive...whilst most of the opposition came from the Germans and Polish, hah.

Fair enough, i think that's a good step, no idea why the admins refused in cod4 and tf2 though ;s

Dureal: Hey,

since PinGu stepped back from his position as MLA, I’d like to start with the MB2 project as soon as possible now. I heard you were a former ESL admin, so I thought you could probably help out a lot with this.

The plan for now would be waiting until that MB2 cup you mentioned in the forum is over, then start an ESL MB2 cup and depending on the activity in this cup I might be able to open up a ladder.

However, first of all we need some rules for all of that and since you seem to be experienced in MB2, I’d like to ask you for gathering the rules for the upcoming cup/ladder.

If that isn’t too much of a burden to you I’d be great if you help out with that. Let me know what you think
Regards

================================================== =======

So, basically, I just need to layout some rules for the cup. We need to play in a cup, which would basically be like the current tournament (except, it will proceed at a quicker pace), in order to establish a league.
