Since the beginning of the tournament, I wanted people to be able to spectate the matches, like in real sports, seeing as there will be some awesome matches played. So I'm giving you fellas the chance to spectate some of the matches, but you must follow these rules:

1. Put down your name here and which match(es) you would like to spectate. It will be a first-in, first-served, however, there will be 'reserve spectators' in case any of the first spectators don't arrive.
2. Any spectators from the clans/teams involved in the match or those with a clear conflict of interest will NOT be allowed to spectate. This includes substitutes (as mentioned in the tournament terms and conditions). If you need subs for the match, call a void during the match and get them to come over xfire.
3. Upon receiving the password for the match, you will NOT give this password to anyone else whatsoever. If you do, both you and the person you gave it to will be banned from the server for the duration of the match.
4. If you are spectating the match, you will NOT be allowed to speak in public chat except during half time and after the conclusion of the match. Use 'spectator chat' which is 'team chat' but for spectators, to discuss the match with fellow spectators.

UPCOMING MATCHES (will be updated to include all newly organised Week 2 matches as they come):

SUNDAY, MAY 4

Suohirviot v The Corruption Force (4 p.m. GMT) @ The New Templars

ALL SPOTS FULL (Supa, Radiance)

NH v DS (7 p.m. GMT) @ NH server

1 SPECTATOR SLOT AVAILABLE (Supa, Radiance)

POSTPONED:

C-Crew (1) v Team Prodigy (3)

Whats the rules to stop the spectators ghosting in ventrilo ect?

Whats the rules to stop the spectators ghosting in ventrilo ect?

That's why no one affiliated with the clans/teams playing in the match, be they actual members or 'affiliated friends' will be allowed to spec the match. Any other spectators caught ghosting on ventrillo will result in the team responsible being disqualified from the tournament.

So if you want to try being sneaky bastards, go ahead, but you will be caught.

I'll be asking all teams to send me their vent/ts details in a PM, so they'll still maintain privacy but I'll know their vents and be able to check up on them. Secondly, it's up to me and only me who gets to spec, so if complete randoms or sneaky aliasing people start asking to spec, they'll be denied. Thirdly, myself and other ref's will be checking on team's vents/ts just to make sure nothing fishy is happening. Lastly, all IP's of players are being logged and can be traced/compared if necessary (sorry about the invasion of privacy, but you can thank some of your fellow community members for making it necessary.:x).

EDIT: I'd also like to alert the community to the 'blockbuster' match of the round, which is clearly the boys from Dekas in the Vents vs the best players in Australia. This match will be held at 8 p.m. American EST on Friday night at both the Full Authentic 24/7 and iPGN servers (very close now) and there are TEN FREE SLOTS on both servers. This is not a match you'll want to miss, so book your seats ASAP.

Why would people even want to watch a match? Its extremely boring, ain't it?

people can ghost via xfire and probably will and there is absolutely nothing you can do meta, but whatever...

also why not instead of spectators you get a team of filmakers that can do proper recording of match that has some cool angles and directors etc...

PS: so we can come in of first come first server basis for any of them right? What would you suggest we do to get a spot in these, as in how early ( I don't want to reserve because I don't know if I can make it ) Also I think that giving out IPs randomly for a tournament isn't that safe I mean your meta, leader of CoR who was like at a time a clan with like 3 server crashers so yeah... who exactly is going to be getting all of our IPs, just you or others?

Lemme Spectate

TFDU v DiTV (8 p.m. American EST, April 26'th 10 a.m. Australian EST) @ Full Authentic 24/7/iPGN servers (24 and 32 slot)

And No, If I did ghost, I would only dishonor Ford and all his awesomeness by doing so.

Put me down to spec TFDU v DiTV.

Just a thought though, you should probably ask both teams if they are happy with each individual spectator, as personally I'd rather not have some random idiots watching my epic skillz and cramping my style.

There are so many ways to circumvent any "detection" that this is absolutely retarded. Hell, I'm going to list a few in public;

1. Make a user invisible to guest account, can't see them, can't hear them ghosting.

2. Foreign languages... (lol?)

3. Having another ventrilo session running in the backround where the ghoster resides.

Sorry, but this system fails, and hard.

Metaguardian
24-04-2008, 14:05
Thanks TigerZeta for telling everyone how to evade the rules. A simple PM to me alerting me to these problems would have sufficed. Could someone please delete that post.

In answer to all of your questions:

1. In answer to Russian Porque, firstly, my clan did have three 'server crashers'. The first was Alenoguerol who used the rancor model crash a few times. He was booted out of the clan for months and was only allowed to return when he had suitably reformed. Sniper Jorge Fonseca was booted out for similar reasons. Lastly, Grimmjoww was asked to leave when I found out he was involved with the Uppercuts and hacking the game. In answer to your second question, the Teamspeaks and Ventrillo details will only be given to me and only me, no one else will be given these details.

2. If you guys didn't notice, I said a while back in this thread that people AFFILIATED with the clans playing as well as actual members will not be allowed to spectate the match. And for those of you who ask to get spectator spots, I know your proper identities from the mb2 forums and I can always do a quick IP search if necessary if things seem fishy during the match. You can't 'ghost' a match without being on the server and with the few spectators we'll have, it's highly unlikely that any troublemakers will get away with funny business.

3. Finally, if anyone tries to use spectators to ghost you and your team will be kicked out of the tournament for breaching the tournament terms and conditions. Not really a risk I'd take if I were you.

The final thing I'd like to add guys is that I'm allowing people to spectate matches, albeit within certain rules and parameters, because it's a tournament! One of the most important parts of competitions is having an audience watching you, cheering you on and so on (although cheering will be limited to spectator chat for these matches lol). If you're going to abuse that and be immature twits, then obviously you're worried your team lacks the skill to beat another team fair and square and you feel you need an unfair advantage. :P

4. No one really cares if they're ghosting. Just play.

TigerZeta
24-04-2008, 14:57
Sorry, but a fool is able to figure out to evade the rules. You unable to acknowledge how it is extremely easy to circumvent these rules just shows you want to push the issue to a dark corner and feel good about yourself.

Easiest way of to avoid issues is to disallow random spectators for matches.

Lervish
24-04-2008, 15:02
Like people wouldn't have figured those ways out by themselves without TigerZeta expressing everyone's thoughts :p

I'm not really sure what's the point of spectators if there's gonna be 2 demoes of every match, plus they'll just contribute to lagging the server more.

Atleast a permission from both parties of the match would be nice.

I'd also suggest to leave spectators out of the matches. The idea is great, but neither the game nor any organisator's means to control it are cut out to enforce any significant rules with it.
At the end of the day, it's better to disallow them, and let people watch the matches on youtube then risk to have 1-2 incidents with it cast a shadow over the whole tourney.

Yeah I'm starting to agree with you there. I think what we'll do is do a trial for this weekend allowing spectators and if there are problems with it I'll just make the rest of the tournament matches players and referees only.

And of course if you're allowing spectators, I won't come gate-crashing a match. :p

thats an option but as spectator you get a MUCH better feeling of the game than in youtube. Also you arent forced to just follow the team leader, you can spectate whoever you want

i think that the audience is a nice idea, and in any case he can just kick specs or kick the whole team if ghosting is proved (anyway, ghosting is overrated, a good team doesnt really need it....)

Yea, I also like the idea a lot.
From a competitive point of view tho, it'd just be better to get 2-3 trustworthy people with some know-how of the game and a decent sense of what's important in a match to record the demo; and after all, spectating is only cool for those few lucky guys who get that rare spot on the server, but there's always the significantly larger majority who'd benefit from a decent video way more.

Spectators are fine as long as they are people who you trust or someone of their friends which they vauch for. As we know most of the community, well, I do @ the euro side, I pretty much know who to trust and who to be doubtfull about. And if spectator slots are limited it comes pretty obvious who's doing what, if we discover that someone is ghosting. EIther way, you're making too much noise over this, what Meta suggested was just fine and I totally agree with it, being in the game speccing is something totally different than seeing a demo of one player only, especially if he isn't the one you're interested in at all.
And honestly, I didn't know, and wouldn't go through so much trouble as being invisible in a teamspeak server, knowing that if somehow someone finds out, the team you ghost to will be banned from the tournament, as well as myself. And for the rest, there are always demo's.

I've just found out that Team Poland organised a match time with Crazy Hunters for Sunday (today) 20:00 (GMT+1). The match will be held at the Force Crusaders server. The suddenness of this match means that I'm now running around to try and get the details of the server so that some speccies can watch what will obviously be the game of the week and also to get a referee to oversee proceedings. Gogetto if you read this, PLEASE, PM me with the password for the locked Force Crusaders server that you had in mind.
