View Full Version : Points progression with classes
How much do you value starting out with the class you want? Do you think a points progression mode where you earned classes rather than points would be fun? For example you would start out with simple classes like soldier and work your way up to stronger ones like hero, wookie, sbd, etc.
Yes I like it.
It adds another level of play, as soon as you join your not uber leet, but instead you need to work your way up. It would kind of simulate starting out as a lowly private, and working up to general. The one thing that I would not like is once the map changes you would have to rework everything. It would be kinda neat if it was kinda like lugormod where you keep your stats, so say if your able to unlock et, the next time you come you have it unlocked.
Not really.
I can wreak more havoc as a soldier than as a hero, so there's not really much point in unlocking classes...
I'd rather just play FA for that aspect of the game.
MB team won't like it, they've already admitted on multiple occasions they're against FORCING things upon players. That's why there are no "greyed out" class attributes like in base ;-)

Both really. (Other & the fact I'd like to start with a class of my preference)
Main problem being you'd show that "This class is better than this". This would lead to a wrong attitude.

I don't see why point progression can't be an option. I don't like the idea of greying out abilities though, if you can afford an ability, you should be able to get it.

I can wreak more havoc as a soldier than as a hero, so there's not really much point in unlocking classes...And why would this be? Perhaps the weapon they carry is flawed.
But in light of this idea, I think it's....interesting. However I see myself trying it for maybe a day or two then going back to normal open mode, which I can also see a lot of other people doing.
It's kind of like how a lot of American players went to Afterhours for awhile, then went back to DOTF 24/7. So while it's interesting and I'd be in support of it, I don't see the longevity.

Afterhours would lag incessantly, unfortunately, mid-round, regardless of the map it was on.

I know but it's still sad to see people not go to it anymore. I honestly think I could have played different maps, shows what I know.
Meh, No. You instantly identify the flaw in this idea. Not everyone agrees on which class is weaker/stronger, and the ones that are weak should be buffed to match, not relegated to permanent inferiority.
And sold are not the weakest class anyway, they're stronger than most 1 lifers.

How are they?
Explain please.

Ummm... they have 3 lifes and same gun as most one-lifers?
@topic:
As many ppl said: People have different opinions of what class is strong/weak.
Only thing that i can find it useful is blocking jedi until player get x points, to prevent jedispam and it will work only if forced on all servers (otherwise jedi players will just go to another server). So no.

In points progression it will take LOTS of wins to be able to get this.
30 points for the 3 lives alone is enough to get someone bored and for them to then change class
I think that acidus didn't think about sold in PP, but about sold generally in mb2. anyway, you can always get 2 lifes for just 2 pts in PP.
I like it more with gaining points instead of classes, however I'd rather that you gain classes as you play then begin with full strengh as any class you want.

It's 50/50 about who like and dislike soldiers.
And my Idea on how to make it more popular.

Soldier has overall 150 hp and around 75 armour
Soldier gets hit by lightsaber once -> Lightsaber hit does 200 damage -> Soldier has 50 hp and 25 armour per life -> Soldier dies, but doesn't lose all the hp he could have -> "Teleports" to a potentially safe place with 2/3 of his overall hp left
Wookiee has 400 hp overall
Wookiee gets hit by lightsaber once -> Lightsaber hit does 200 damage -> Wookiee has 400 hp -> Wook loses buttloads of hp -> The sith does a combo hit and hits with the 2nd swing also causing another 200 hp down -> Wook dead
It's a very huge advantage when used properly.

Indeed. More lives means
1) Overkill doesn't mean **** to you. If you have 1 hp and 3 lives, that headshot does all of 1 damage to you...can't say the same for a one lifer.
2) You get out of nasty situations easier. If your team runs away/you get jumped by 5 sith, 2 etroopers and an SBD...you aren't out of the round.

If your teams runs to gen and imps storm the hang, you are ****ed up.
This would maybe work better if it was for FA mode. Only the best get to use Boba Fett in Jabba's Palace ;)
