Do you like points progression? Why or why not?

I like it when MinMBPoints is set between 30 - 40.

I like it, but not when the starting points are below 30, otherwise you stand hardly any chance of killing someone with more amount of points.

I like it because then it's more challenging and your able to work your way up to higher weps. I must admit I do hate it when the admin changes the map every 2 rounds so you gotta start all over...

Lack of balance. The game is not designed to be balanced with a PP setup at all to be honest. That's an issue.

Yes, I dislike it.

Because it doesn't feel like a reward system at all. All it does is slow you down and prevents you from playing the class/config you like best for a few rounds. Woop dee ****ing doo so much fun!

Thats close to how I feel. I think with 80 points theres a wide range of builds and classes you can pick, but with points progression some classes are inherently weaker, or stronger with the same points, and some build options are not viable. I think the game is at its peak with 80 points, so it feels like I'm racing to get there before I can play properly, rather than playing the game while progressing.

That is also how I feel. It seems very similar to the masochistic gameplay of WoW where you have to work for 100s of hours before you can do any of the fun stuff. PP adds meaningless filler and work to the game as opposed to open mode where you pick your points based on your strategy and preference and then get right into fighting.

For me, I like how I'm forced to develop more unique builds and try to play with them. And better yet, you can actually have a fair chance with such builds since everyone else is lower on points too.

I like it because it rewards you of your successes.

Tho I would like to see something similar done to the 80 pts thing. Maybe additional points for finishing the objective with your teammates or something.

Option 4.

I love how you gain "power" while you play and dislike to have it all as you join, I want something rewarding while playing. You also switch class more often, starting with soldier and up to ET and clones then the heavy stuff.

I'm quite fine with joining in the middle of the round too, great challenge.

Not that my feelings regarding point progression have changed any in the past couple of years...

But how many threads on this subject do we need, really? Seems like we get another every few months. It's gotten to the point where people could probably just as well pull quotes out of the dozens of other threads about the same topic and still make a conversation out of it.

I would like it but for one problem: it needs a rotation to work properly (otherwise you would be at 80 in a few rounds and then stay there until you leave the server) but using a rotation causes crashes, which is very annoying with PP for the simple fact that sod's law dictates that the server will crash just as you reach 80 points. I am for it in principle, though.

I like it, because it forces people to use more creativity and don't use same, 80 pts builds all time.
Prob is that theres usually 0-1 server with pp and 90% of time it's empty. i've played on BH PP serv. There was only me and some other person and throught whole map (4 times to 8 wins) no one came and played with us ;/ (yes, there were some ppl, but they disconnected almost instantly after connection). If ~50% of people here claims that they like it, why servers are empty?

I like it, the different builds one can make in the early game gives an open game allot of diversity. You're weaker then normal(and that counts for everyone), there's more to loose when you die and more to gain when you win, each round counts for so much more...excitement is higher. If you want to specialise with a weapon, you do that with much more vigor (for instance, a whopping 20 points for sniper), or being the first guy to hold the thermal detonator, or someone who's spent all his points in reinforcements for a soldier, 3 life pistol soldier. Or someone spents carefully a whole 10 points, just in case the other team gets a deka.

The game is less predictable, ever changing, and risk/reward ratio is much better. One word, FUN.

I like it because it's a reward system and it gives you a good reason to keep playing, and gives other players a good reason to not screw around when it penaltilizes them for TKing.

I don't like it when it's set to less than 40 points and it takes forever to climb up the ladder, especially when you're so weak compared to everyone else.

In black and white, it makes sense that doing the objectives earns you more points than killing people. But with the way the community is, that should be changed around a bit.

i wasn't really around for very long durring the point progression era [b16, and started dying around b17] but i found PP to be thoroughly enjoyable, IMO, pp actually improved my skills in fighting because fighting with level 1 weapons and less armor and ammunition meant that you didn't have the option of a rapid-fire-blitz-spray-and-pray at your disposal, you had to be more cautious, you had to be more inventive.

and furthermore, i didn't experience any balance issues with pp, as long as you got a decent amount of points to start [like 4 points isn't going to cut it]
