View Full Version : Weapon overrides: WeaponBasedOff.

Does this have any effect on weapon overrides yet? Mainly curious because I've been noticing some strange changes with the overrides on Lunar FA that didn't involve any direct changes to the FA files themselves, and I was wondering if this might have anything to do with it.
Even if it doesn't have anything to do with it, I'm still a bit confused regarding what WeaponBasedOff does.
On an unrelated but possibly more important note, does HI_AMMODISP also heal teammates? Or does HI_MEDPAC? Or, and here's a strange possibility, does the combination of those two heal teammates? Because while testing some fixes to Lunar FA, and despite having made no changes to the Ammo Runner class, I noticed they had the ability to heal their teammates now, even though they do not have HI_HEALTHDISP (but do have HI_AMMODISP and HI_MEDPAC). They do have the classflag CFL_STATVIEWER - could that have something to do with it?
And one last thing. I guess I may have figured out why some of the weapons on Lunar were messed up. Is MB_ATT_CLONERIFLE no longer used? Because apparently the WP_REPEATER weapon is affected by MB_ATT_BLASTER instead.
WeaponBasedOff has something to do with the position of the gun in FPV.. i think..
For the rest, what does the wiki say?

For the rest? The Wiki is incorrect, at least in the case of the clonerifle. Maybe it has to do with what the MB Class of a given character is, but with Clonetrooper and ET, you need to you MB_ATT_BLASTER instead of MB_ATT_CLONERIFLE to upgrade WP_REPEATER, which wasn't the case before.
And the Wiki definitely doesn't say that HI_AMMODISP gives health, but it does in the case of the ammo runners now. (Tried removing HI_MEDPAC, that didn't fix it.)
One other thing I noticed - a bug, actually - is that ammo packs don't seem to give ammunition for the T-21/conc rifle. You can still give ammo for those the slow way (holding use on a character), but I doubt it was intended.

Yeah, I noticed this too, happens on Corellia and Geonosis FA. (But with Blaster insted of Clone Rifle)
Its a bug with the ammo dispenser, it gives out health too. (R2D2 on Death Star shouldnt be able to heal people)

Known. There're a few official .mbch files that have this commented and explained in them, although I can't recall which ones offhand or if they're released yet.
It's essentially due to the godawful way weapon levels are represented in code, and tied in with the whole "pick up a completely different weapon/level of a weapon" issues that occur with Pulled weapons or map-placed weapons.

I'll look into this at some point.
Lunarbase FA is being looked at to be redone internally, as it's considered fairly lackluster and broken in general.

Woulda been nice to know that before I went in to do the bug fixes. :p
Damn you and your Lunar-based complaining, Alpha!
HI_MEDPACK gives small bacta iirc. Funny thing about mb2_att_blaster affecting clone rifle is that you can get rifle 3 by picking clonerifle with char with e-11 lvl3 (pulled or found on deltaprime). CFL_STATVIEWER allows you to see allies ammo and health by pointing crosshair over them.
WeaponBasedOff, as said yzmo, states position of gun in trueview, but most FA makers (including FAs in official maps and proably in cmp too) put it to same value as WeaponReplaced, making first person view messed up.

Indeed. WP_BOWCASTER seems to actually work for most/all circumstances/weapons. *shrug* Don't ask me why, I didn't code it. :D

Ah, yeah, a shame that's one of the only two hand .md3's I didn't bother trying for fixing the T-21 and conc rifle first person views. I'll give that a shot to see if it works. (WP_REPEATER and WP_CONCUSSION aren't too bad, as they at least manage to put most guns in the bottom right corner, though they're often held at a 90 degree angle or point to the right as a result.)

Thanks, Sean.
What the f*ck is all that supposed to pertain to, if you don't mind me asking?
Interesting - the forums still get spammed even after accounts have to be individually moderated. My guess is that GMail accounts are no longer as safe a bet as they used to be, given that GMail's CAPTCHA has apparently been cracked. So, someone approved a GMail account on here and it turns out it belongs to a spammer. Amirite?
