THis is a map being worked on by Darth Hunter that we hopefully will be releasing very soon.
As some of you may have guessed, yes - it's a remake of the CS map, but set on tatooine :)

Will this be a pure gunner class map without droidekas or mandalorians ? ive never really thought that they suited pure gunners , even though they are gunners

In the semi-authentic mode we are adding to the next build, it is up to the map maker what classes they choose to allow.
...of course in open mode, all classes are allowed on all maps.
So post your suggestions here, and I'm sure Darth Hunter will take them under consderation...

I've already played it and yeah it definitively rocks !
To fit with the CS theme, I suggest Gunner classes only...

I already thought about this because of an authentic gameplay compared to CS. After all the idea to do a remake of dust2 came from the good game flow on this map.
Now, we've been doing little betatests on it to see if everything works fine (planting & defusing bomb, detonation effects etc.).
At first, I wanted to disable all the rooftops to make this map just like it was in CS. But then, Renegade reminded me of something: Currently, there are no open maps in MB 2 where you can actually play the advatages of the Mandalorian. So we decided to leave at least some of the rooftops enabled for the open beta test.
And now it comes to you: We'll release the map soon and it's up to you to test in in complete teams. That's the only way you can really judge about the playability with all classes and the balancing.
After all, MB 2 will be available in two different modes afterwards as Renegade already mentioned: Open and authentic mode. In authentic mode, there will be of course no Droidekas in the map.
What concerns the authentic mode, the beta test should provide some information on which classes to choose.
For those who don't know dust2 from CS, here is a short objective overview:
- The setting: Mos Espa on Tatooine
- The situation: The Imperial Forces have established a weapon store in their outpost in Mos Espa.
- Objectives for the Rebels: There are two target zones (A and B). Find one of them and destroy the charged weapons by planting a special detonation pack which is given to you at your spawn point.
- When the bomb is planted, it has a 35 seconds countdown. In this time, the Imperials can still try to defuse it. If they are able to, they win the round. If the bomb blows up, the Rebels win.

Wait, so if the imperials defuse one bomb they win? So you only have one chance basically?

I must agree with master Revan , chances are that the imperials will camp at the place where you set the bomb and launch a surprise attack , so then they could defuse the bomb , now , What if only a small group were sent with the bomb ? they would die , but the rest of the rebels could still invade with a bomb or not.and what if you had more than one bomb ?
I love the Mandalorian class
It has to be in there! :p

The thing is that they won't be able to launch large surprise attacks. First of all, the imperials have to split up into two or three groups since there are 3 entries and 2 target zones to defend.
Also, there is not that much space to hide. Of course you can hide and that will teach the rebels to approach carefully. But the map would not be that popular in CS if the gameplay wasn't that good.
Well I don t know the CS map, but this sounds good :)

Will the imperials see this countdown ? I mean, will they be alerted when the bomb is planted or they just will have to... watch both target zones ?
How will this map work with few people btw?
And last question: when are you going to release this? (soon soon) :p
p.s. : you really don t have to answer the last question :D
hmm As I said, I dont know the CS map, but I have noticed something. CS has no jedis. I mean, jedi/sith do make a big difference in defending/attacking target zones. And the greatest difference imo is the sense force power. A Jedi will see where are the Imperials defending, and a Sith will see from where are the rebels coming.
This may sound drastic but...maybe should jedi and sith be disallowed in the authentic mode?
yes they will , Ren told me in authentic mod there will be only stormtroopers and rebel troopers (maybe Darth Vader aswell , tho only 1 guy can have him )

When the bomb is planted, you can see that on your screen: "Bomb has been planted"
Still, you won't know if it's A or B, so you must listen carefully. When the bomb is planted, the countdown begins and you can hear that by a repeating "beep" sound whose frequency increases. So when you hear the sound, you're able to say in which target zone the bomb has been planted and you also know approximately how much time you've got left to defuse it.
In the last ten seconds, you can actually see the countdown on your screen.
I don't recommend playing this map with few people, you should at least have 4 players in each team so you don't run around searching for the guy who carries the bomb ;)
I'm not totally sure about the releasedate, but I'm targeting the end of this week. Currently, the map is already fully functional but as de_dust2 is a very simple map, I'm adding a lot of Star Wars atmosphere now. As we'll need to do a beta test of the map to find out which classes fit best for the semi-authentic mode, I can add more eyecandy afterwards. So I'm pretty sure it'll be released together with build 16.

The great difference to the original CS map is that the rooftops in the center of the map are enabled. So, this is the first MB 2 map, where you can actually play the advantages of the mandalorian. Also, there are some larger avenues where you can hide behind walls with your sniper and wait for enemies. But there is almost no completely open map where you can't take cover.

You can actually play the advantages of jedi and mandys in cloud city - its just people don't like it because theres no real objectives. The mandy can stake out slave 1 and the bridge as can the jedis for the mandy. There are also a few hiding places high up that i found.
