View Full Version : Suggestion for fullscale maps

Hey guys, thought I'd just mention this, I wouldn't mind seeing a fullscale Utapau map, similar to the one in Star Wars Battlefront II, and a fullscale Kamino also (think I heard someone had half-made one already, just revamping the idea). Imagine how epic the battles would be :D. Was really disappointed in the duel-sized versions of these maps, as Kamino was much more to me than just the landing pad where jango took flight, i mean the room fool of clones-in-the-making, the endless corridors, all the stuff contained in the movie. As for Utapau, I mean, you have that huge room where Dooku was having a meating with the CIS in Episode 2, I'm wondering why on earth at least THAT wasn't included, sheesh. I'm not having a blow at the CMP, or MBteam atall, it's just i really think if you're going to release a duel version of something, then it would be nice to have a full-scale version to go along with it. Much like JT.

That's all,

it problem is "full scale" maps are longer and take more effort. while the dual ones are smaller less repetitive and hold attention and desire through out

(or is it just me) :o

AND theres that limit thing that cuts the view. so Large maps like bf2 wont work unless you like no-clip views.

Naw, its area portaling the insides and structral brushes for a larger map.

Wasn't that meeting held on Geonosis?

Anyhow, I too would very much like to play on bigger maps like in Battlefront2, but aside from the technical problem(s) mentioned above, you have to understand that MBII's player base is not big enough for such maps to be used on a frequent basis.

Not to mention, as far as I'm aware (and I have tried), there's no way to increase the 5 minute round time. Decrease, perhaps, but I couldn't increase it.

Indeed, Wyes.

That's why full-scale maps really ought to be based more on Battlefront II or
regular siege mode.

Something about 32 MAX PLAYER LIMIT?
You can't make full-scale maps on JKA. Leave that to Battlefront or some other
game.

We don't have full maps on the kamino and utapau because they are duel maps!!

Full-scale maps take huge effort, and something like Utapau would be almost impossible. Someone would have to spend hours watching that part in the movie, and I just dont think we can all be bothered to make a massive map!

There is a full-scale kamino in the works according to this: MB2 Mapping Wiki - Maps (http://redsaurus.net/mb2mapwiki/index.php/Maps)

So yeah...

ROFL.

It doesn't have to be fully authentic to the movie. Have you seen the Utapau map in Battlefront 2 for example? it isn't absolutely true to the movie, if at all. Same goes to many other maps; so long as the textures and archetecture (Tatooine for example) are authentic, the map can be great and feel "realistic".

Full-scale maps tend to have full-scale boredom as well. The fact of the matter is that watching a movie with full-scale environments is a lot more interesting than playing a game where you have to spend five minutes running around those environments trying to find someone to kill.

Not to mention playing a LARGE map on open = hero bias due to dodge and projectile rifle. Therefore making them FA only. Play some qe maps, they are small obnoxious AND entertaining at the same time.

me likey making hugemapazors with uber detailzors and then clipping it off so you can't get to the outsidezors

but major fpslagzors

Seriously, full scale maps do NOT work. The only way a full-scale map would
work is if you had many NPCs shooting eachother with a few people running
around. If you could actually make full-scale maps on the q3 engine, it would
lag like hell.

OK, um, i think i was misinterpreted a bit, what i meant by full-scale, was non-duel maps, maps the size of lunar, or even theed. by no means as open as arena, and to the guy who said there was a meating on geonosis, you're right, but on the other hand there was also a meeting on utapau that obiwan was observing for a minute untill he jumped off his creature (whatever it was) while he was on the catwalk. I mean, really, you could just have a lunar-sized utapau and make an invisible barrier behind where the rebs spawn that cuts off the rest of the map, and just make it a huge firefight scene with catwalks and stuff, and if the rebels get to the ship (as is on the duel map), and hack it, they win, and you could possibly put a hack objective on the catwalk or something to open the door from the hangar to the locale of the duel map.

This is what you said:

First, the meeting on Utapau happened after Dooku had died, so that sentence makes no real sense. Secondly, as I've already mentioned, the meeting you were trying to refer to was on Geonosis, not Utapau.

OT now, I would love to play at the scene when the Clones arrived on Utapau (a few scenes prior to Order 66) but I doubt any mapper can be arsed doing that.

the thing is, the cabling down from the roof is awesome, but nearly impossible to map... so....

Nah.. cables are not too hard to map
