View Full Version : Halo 2 Omg Omg Pwnzor!!111!
Halo 2 is out, and the masses have gone wild. Trampled to death as I went to Future Shop to buy some headphones, I gasped at the incredible sight that met my gaze. Hundreds of swarming men of all ages pile into the stores, thrusting aside people in wheelchairs, knocking down children, fighting each other as the sequel to the popular FPS by microsoft and bungie is released. I've never really been a halo fan, but at all this stint and uprising about this great game I dled the original Halo trial and went online to see if it was worth it. It was not bad really, a good mix of action run-and-gun,vehicular combat, and strategy. I don't have an X-box, so I want someone to tell me, is this game worth it? Halo 2 will most likely be released for the PC in a while, maybe 6 months, and if its all its cracked up to be I want a copy.
in my personal opinion if ur lookin for a multiplayer fps halo isnt to high on the must play list i find the lack of weapons to be constricting usually everyone ends up just using pistols as its the most powerful gun in the game... well human gun and in most multiplayer they turn off alien weapons as they have wierd effects like one seeks out enemies and almost never misses and i find the gameplay to be somewhat stale but this is just my opinion if you dont mind always using the same weapon on just a bunch of diffrent maps then its pry good and ive never played the single player campaign so it may be worht it there

Isn't that the same for every massively popular game? Diablo 2 would be a great example... i find Diablo 1 to be better in some things... the biggest one for me would be the mood: Diablo 1 could even be scary (sort of :P), with the eerie music, impaled corpses and so on... 2 isn't scary at all, with all those open fields.
Its one of the best FPS on *consoles*. It was also the start of the getting people into chipping their xbox's. I'm preparing a couple models right now for when they start outputting tools.

yah itz overated, but still prtty cool to play.
Being on the other side as an cloakin alien with a blade is too much fun.
Halo1 was a new n i had to play it n finish it.

The reason its so popular is a lot of people will ONLY play consoles or pcs and not both. So for console owners its something new and incredible, while pc gamers have been playing fps for years, and have seen quite a few better than halo.
Personally I thought halo was going to be fantastic when it was planned for the pc, it had a lot of revolutionary features and the multiplayer for it sounded more similar to planetside than the dumbed down deathmatch it became for the console audience.

i play both console and PC and console sometimes is better but i prefer to play FPS on PC, although PS2 does get all the new grand theft autos first :p

yeah i got san andreas and its friggin awesome , its the best its 10 times vice city, no exaggeration.
i also got the new raw vs. smackdown which also kicks major ass
i think the single player campaign in halo/halo 2 might be worth buying it cuz for a fact the graphics are pretty fing amazing as far as na fps is concerned and i play fps on both console and pc but i find them more fun on pc cuz on consule ur turn speed can be very limited by the game settings where on pc its as fast as u can shove ur mouse right of left up or down but i do think its overrated its pry so big cuz its like THE ONLY decent game for the box heh well some ppl would argue fable personally i got bored of that in 30 mins and went back to movie battles :p

BTW, did Halo 1 remind anyone of Starcraft? Flood=Zerg (especially when you read the story line in the Starcraft manual. Too bad Halo 1 didn't have too much to its story line. Everything was pretty predictable and they don't really tell you too much about it in the manual or when you play.

the flood is back, but i love the story line splittin u play chief but u also play an alien commander that really has it bad cuzz he didnt kill chief. so we have 2 story lines.

I agree, Halo is overrated. I don't think there are many, if any, PC FPS better than Halo 2 though. Half Life never really interested me, Unreal Tournament 2004, maybe. The Quake series was too arcady, more twitchy than skill or strategy, although I'm cool with those too, still not as good as Halo. There's only a few FPS I can think of better than Halo: Tribes (PC), GoldenEye (N64... best FPS ever, even to this day), Perfect Dark(N64, tried to perfect Goldeneye... and it did real well, just didn't have the magic of GoldenEye) and,althoug a different genre of FPS, Battlefield 1942(PC) and Battlefront(Xbox). Oh, I wanted to point out that Halo is not a dumbed down deathmatch... the only reason that's so typical is because not a lot of people can get 4 TVs, 4 XBoxs, and 16 people all together in 1 room. If you could, you almost always played Capture the Flag, which, if you are any good at FPS, was far from a dumbed down deathmatch. PC FPS are actually less tactical than console shooters. Because of the quickness and precision of the mouse, you just have to see someone and shoot them, usually with a head shot. On a console, it's more about team and positioning because if you just run around, you're a lot less likely to be able to shoot someone if you don't notice them or if they catch you offguard. It's much closer to real life on a console as far as aim is concerned, because you cannot pinpoint someone in real life like you can on a PC. Halo 2 has XBox LIVE 3.0, so the problems related to CTF in Halo 1 are gone. Other than the fact that 4 people, in one house, can all play online, Halo 2 has some amazing XBox LIVE 3.0 features, like Clan Support, voice email, text email, friends list features that weren't in Black Arrow, and more. IT also has things such as the fastest interent connection in a room hosting the server if the original host leaves, so a host can't end the match like a little bitch. The internet features in Halo 2 are better than anything the PC has. Most PCGamers say Halo is bad because they can't play Halo 2 (;)). Don't even try and argue that because it will be in vain. I've had XBox for 2-3 years, but I never got Halo, because I don't like it as much as the rest of the world, so I'm not a Halo Fanboy, but I will probably get Halo 2 and it will be a great game.
Get this game. Get XBOX live. Never get any other XBOX games.
Its like the first one...but with LIVE support. Thats it right there, makes it the best game for the XBOX. CTF with 15 other people is amazing.
why the HELL would i go out and buy a $200 xbox for halo/halo2 when halo is out on pc and halo 2 will be out on pc MADNESS I SAY xbox is a waste of money its evil EVIL I TELLS YA and possibly made of people!!!

just a marketing scheme, they will wait for reviews then the kids will get thier parents to buy an x-box JUST for halo 2, the same as PS2 has rights to have the new GTA first, its just to bump up sales on the cetain consoles, anyone noticed how game cube has gone the way of the sega saturn, not heard many big releases just for lamepube yet... i mean gamecube :p

You're right, why the hell would anyone buy an XBox for $200? Especially since you can easily get one for $100 or less :rolleyes: And, not to mention, XBox LIVe and all the games that play online :rolleyes:

Its a typical console game. Fun to play on your own but not nearly as fun as a PC game.
But it's lots of fun when you play it with others. Or others are playing it and you're just watching 'em while doing something else.
People that diss console games just havent played them like they're suppose to be played :rolleyes:
i like consul games as much as the next guy but i whole heartedly think that pc games are superior if a game comes out for a consule and pc im gunna pick it up for pc without any thought... well assuming its a good game :p unless the controls would be totally f'ed up for the pc like some espianoge games would be a real pain to play on pc cuz of the sheer number of buttons theyd use

or the quality of the games from console to PC, i heard alot of game reviewer and gamers were dissapointed by the first halo port to PC

hmmm.... Halo might not be the top of the list, but Halo 2 is awesome. I finally got a chance to buy/play it, and online too. It's probably the best FPS to date, although I find it a bit overhyped. I'd definatly 11/12 it if I was rating it, and it's really awesome. It doesn't lag unless the host connection is the lowest possible (or yours is), there are a bunch of things to do, and it's on a console, which is superior as far as multiplayer goes. Voice comms, great internet interface, friends list, clan support, etc.. I highly recommend Halo 2, and, if you don't have an XBox, I even recommend buying an XBox FOR Halo 2. Even if it's the only game you get (try Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, though). :cool:

Halo 2 is a great game...besides the release date being moved a million times (btw remind u of another game we all no???)...neway its AWESOME multiplayer and XBOX LIVE, and the single-player isnt all that bad either! ('cept for the really crappy ending, but hey no pc games are perfect right?).

To start with, when halo 1st came out, the graphics were revolutionary for any console and the ability to have 16 people (4 box's) playing was sensational. It was, if anything, an incredouble fps if not the best. Yes, i do agree there was a slight lack of weapons and the pistol was highly unbalanced. Halo 2 comes out, and it probly is a little overated. It is still in my top 3 fps's. The single player has the potential for an incredible third game, even though it leaves you hanging. The Multiplayer is so innovative on xbox live though. The strategizing (if your not playing with noobs) can work so well, especially with new escort type games, assault, oddball, etc.
HALO 2 IS NOT JUST A FPS. IT IS A REALLY, REALLY, GOOD FPS. if not the best.
If you have not played it yet and you don't have an xbox, I advise you to make some friends with an xbox.

That can be interrupted two ways:
1) Make friends with people who have xboxes
2) Make friends with an xbox or with xboxes (scary thought...don't rub the xbox the wrong way it might hurt you and/or it)
Anyway, RATM owns, and the only reason IMO why console multiplayer games are much better than pc multiplayer games is because you are playing against your real life friends, siblings, acquantances, or even enemies.
Isn't that what LANs are for? :P
And it's not like you can't get together to kill each other via internet...
