Each time I hear the word "honor" in combination with Jedi Academy, I could smash the wall in front of me...
There is no other game where people actually care about "honor". This silly idea ruined gameplay early in Jedi Academy. You could not get onto an FFA server without some kiddies flaming around and calling you a "lamer" just because you fragged them...
The thing that is important for a good, balanced and successful MB II game is teamplay. If you're able to coordinate your team and use your special abilities with a bit of strategy, then you can call it a good game.
This idea of "honor" is nothing but counterproductive.
What we do? We are a group of Jedi's that play the role properly. We dont run around for the kills, spam force push or any of those sorts. You will learn to play properly and with honor/respect
so basically you refuse to play the game properly?
Fine by me, makes you a lot easier to kill I guess. I just hope you're silly ideas dont spread to the rest of the community and turn this game into cs.
OMG U USED AWP U SUXOR CAMP0R WH0r3!!

Actually, the gameplay ruined the gameplay in ja early :) It took them about 3 months just to bring a patch out that actually made the sabers hit properly, and even then the absolutely dire design and ideas behind it were entirely evident. One of the most truly impossibly terrible games of recent times. I wish I could have my £40 given to the movie battles team, because they're the only ones that have made it worth owning.
Aw come on, they seem to want to play jedi like movie jedi, as long as they don't expect the sith to play like jedi... :P

Aslong y'all 'member that Chatkilling is allowed and valued as regular kills. This is not a chatroom, it caters 'round action.
TeamHitting/Killing happens on accident and they get punished for that by points-loss, don't encourage revenge killing. On the servers, the Admin will warn and kick those who commit any type of excessive Teamkilling, be it revenge or not.
Finally have fun, you're free to make up your on rules within your group, aslong as you don't enforce them on others.
Which they inevitably will. And will also expect other jedi to adhere to thier made up rules.
In this one post he suggests that anyone "spamming" push or "running for kills" is not playing the role of jedi properly.
He also says that anyone who "doesnt play properly" has no respect for other players.
Codswallop I say. If people want to play the game a certain way then all power to them, but imo its them that are playing in a different way than designed and not us, so we shouldnt be looked down upon or abused.
yeah right, and then there is another kit fisto, and then they are querrelling, no thx, I'll just choose something I like at the moment self.

I personally have nothing against playing "honorable" on certain servers made for it. But the MB gametype is not designed to be a 3D-chatroom, but a place for thick and team-oriented action. I'm a member of The Jedi Academy, I've been indoctrinated with codes of honour, but in gametypes like MB, honour is out of place. Just like siege in basejka, you chatkill ppl because they may be camping for you. You stab them in the back to get to the objective before they do. Sniping, backstabbing, chatkilling, welcome to the REAL world.

agreed. there is (and should be) no honor in siege
although i think that Ithrien maybe does not mean the kind of honor a large part of the jka community dislikes. maybe he is just referring to behaviour towards other players (no abusive language etc)
and regarding jedi without push: yay, let me get my thermals :p
Just because someone doesn't use push does not mean this will turn into CS. In fact, thanks to the MB team it's probably closer to CS than any Star Wars game ever will be. He did mention "spam push" which seems to mean that they will not run through enemy ranks, tapping the F1 key as often as possible. Of course, Acidus, this means they are not playing properly, as per the universal code of gameplay written by you for every circumstance? Please, let them play how they want. No-one tells you to stop using mind trick, and if they did, would you listen? Just leave the guy alone and let him play as he sees fit.
Yeah, honor does not exist in online gaming, it barely exists in the real world. I think the terms courtesy and respect spring to mind, simple things like gg and gf after fights is probably what he's aiming for.

Not to be very OT but: Who the hell uses F1 for push? There is no friggin time to push away detonators of you have it that far away.
Ah, I found it easier in JK2 to use F1, used it here for a while before I went to Siege and started NF gunning more. Nothing wrong with using F1 for push, easy enough once you get into a routine. I cant use Q and E to scroll my forces and use F to use them, so to each his own I guess.

I use 2 for push, 3 for pull and 4 for speed. The weapons that are there by default I have on F2, F3 and F4.

i use to moan about being pushed over and killed and thought it was out of order but then i started doing it myself and now jedi/sith is just a normal part of the game now
Please, let them play how they want.
If you please read carefully and dont just skim loki, you'll see its quite clear I think people should play how they want. Your post agrees with what I have said, but is badly misdirected.

I edited my first post, but not everyone will reread it so i am posting new info here.
Some people took what i said the wrong way. I in no way said we will act like true blue Jedi. What i said and you just didnt understand was that we will play the role of a Jedi the way i believe the designers of this mod had in mind.
As for push spamming. All i mean by that is no pushing and pushing and pushing people down and then stabbing them for a kill. This will not be tolerated, it is looked down upon just as much as those who spam thermals.
For the running around, by that i meant no going off by yourself for revenge and putting the teams chances of winning at stake.
I am not going to enforce people to play a certain way. If i wanted to do that, i'd just go to baseja and start up a super strict clan for that. There are certain things i expect people to abide by, but other than that, this group is pretty open. I do not expect other Jedi players to immediately follow us, nor will i ask them to. It is their choice, not mine. However, if you are a member of [I,Jedi] You will be expected to follow certain rules. There are hardly any, and most are quite easy to go by.

If a jedi is quick and effiecient in his ways he can avoid and kill a thermal 'spammer' in one hit. He just needs to stay hidden and slash across there back.
Leaving your sabre on is a sure fire way to get caught though as it is loud.
i dont really understand the comcept of thermal spammers i mean they only get 3 at most right? and its not like they through them pointlessly otherwise they wouldnt be annoying
i think thermals are cool cos whens your whole teams marching along and a thermal lands in the middle out of nowhere theres a big scramble to get the **** outta the way
I dont see how spamming could exist with a limited weapon.

True while the thermal is limited in numbers I have witnessed numerous times to rebs or imps stading there throwing there whole load on one or two kills i.e. 1st one knocks down and damages 2 and 3rd while player is still on floor unable to defend for the kill. In older MB's it was possible to push while on the floor for defence from some things, but no longer.
The most "spammy" thing i've seen with them would be me throwing the 3 down the stairs at jabba's palace (being a wookie) to cover my attack :P

Could they be made a bit more smokey? Then we could use to cover properly.... just an idea.
*The jedi slowly approached the magician, with a toss of his thermal detonator he was gone in a puff of smoke.*
Damnit dingo... that even made me cough...
It could be the thing soldiers can get instead of the second reinforcement, smoke grenades, flash grenades... that sort of stuff. That said... i haven't seen it in any movie, but it seems pretty standard soldier equipment. Or concussion grenades (not seen in any movie that i can remember... but they are in the phantom menace game) maybe... (less damage than thermals, no knockdown maybe? useful to damage somebody without exposing yourself by bouncing them in walls)

The grenades they have in TPM are flash grenades...
Small-area explosive designed primarily to blind opponents. More powerful flash grenades can be quite destructive. but are not as powerful as thermal detonators.
I'd like to point out though that thermal dets in TPM actually do what they say on the package and make a massive explosion of about 10-20 metres that kills anything but the bosses.

That game was hella cool. I think ima reinstall that and give it a go. i have it for the pc=)

The TPM game was very fun I liked the happy cheat and useing the dets (as long as u didn't kill yourself, but MBII is more fun) a ATT could be taken down with 1 det If you trough it right it was fin useing it on the army of droids in escape from theed.

But they had true dets there......
As mentioned several times class a thermal dets are capable of leveling buildings, if you throw one into the hatch of a tank your likely to get slag afterwards.. Now, i want to recreate the look of those detonators, anyone who has it on pc able to get screenies for me? My psx is unplugged at the mo :)
Flash grenades? I remember using them to kill people... anyway... yep... those dets were good... you had to run back after throwing them or the explosion damaged you :P

Cerberus , i highly doubt that this means jedi will start running head first into thermals , They will use push every now and then , just not push push push push push push push push ,
just push.........................push................. ...............push.So dont be so happy about no pushing
using all 3 at once is silly anyway
you need to spread them out
I love when they do that and i'm walking... and then i blast them and say... "roger roger" :P

1) that remark of mine was not really serious.
2) the post you are referring to is 8 days old. in the meantime, Ithrien has rephrased the initial post and also made his idea clearer in other topics.
