I love KOTOR!

yea kotor is pretty good but it strays to far from the core d&d rules for me liking its a great game i like the story and the graphics the gameplay isnt in my mind the best only fun for me twice to see the light side ending and the dark side ending

I never saw it advertised as being d20 (it's not d&d... it'd be star wars d20), at most based in the star wars d20 system.

If it was to be D&D based it would have magic and warriors, monks and archers. This was basically a game using NWN's Engine, which used D&D rules, but changed the rules a tiny bit for a starwars experience, not a medieval/fantasy experience. KOTOR2 is gonna own.

um theres star wars d20 books and your still supposed to use some rules from core d&d books with them but as for classes thats a diffrent story im talking about feats most of those feats are supposed to be passive and you select a particular weapon for them to be used with
as for magic the force repalced that and i think they did a pretty good job with that
but the biggest thing to me is that higher base attack bonus didnt give you additional attacks per round so your a fool to wield single saber if you wield double you loose 2 attack bonus and gain dbl dmg a round
but all things considered it was still a good game

Ja on release was an incredibly bad game imo, both in single and multiplayer. It took them something like 4 months just to patch it so the sabers were detected properly. Before the saber fixing patch it was so bad it hurt... and after that people discovered the true game underneath... spammy, skill less and utterly dull. Its like they took all the best bits of jk2 and replaced them with badness, while keeping all the bad parts of jk2 for good measure.

BOT (back-on-topic): KOTOR I have already won on light side twice without cheats. The third time was on lightside with more cheats than you ever knew existed! :p lol, I am completely impressed with how well they did KOTOR and I am quite impaitient on waiting for KOTOR2. I think it will be a wonderful game to play!

Actually I found the strongest way to play is not to use much force at all.

Invest fully in strength and the skill flurry. Buy mandalors armour as soon as possible and wear it always. You're practically invincible throughout, and can still use some force powers like push and heal which are all you really need.

If you then use a single saber and dueling to increase your defense you end up with something like 30 defense, making you nigh impossible to hit and take about 2 damage when you do, even from bosses.

Sure you can kill a lot as a Jedi Guardian w/ armor masterspeed staff and flurry or critical strike 3 (i played LS like this) but it gets to be a mindless forcejump-then-saber fest and basically yer character is playing for you. First off, no Jedi wore armor - they wore robes. Jedi should thus be dex-based characters wearing robes so you can get extra AC from dex modifier and extra AB from dex modifier. Secondly, using force powers adds to the fun b/c then u need to use some skill in incapacitating the weaker but still strong mobs in order to focus all 3 party members on the worst mob in the group. Also Force Storm Force Kill and Death Field f*ckin PWN.

Exar Kun?

Exar Kun wore armor after falling to the darkside. I doubt the Order let him wear heavy ass armor as a Jedi. Even if they did he was an exception because he founded the whole Brotherhood of the Sith in any case. It's just weird thinking an eloquent saber wielder would wear constricting armor which could easily reduce his abilities to saber. If anything, armor should have also restricted saber combat abilities in KOTOR.
