View Full Version : How did you became Star Wars nerd?
i remember i went to cinema with my friend to watch 'some' movie, since there was nothing interesting to watch, we went to see Star Wars Episode I. Since then ive been running around with wooden sticks and trying to beat everyone :)
actually i saw the previous episodes lot of times before EP1 and i liked them, but ep1 was the one what made me into this half-man half-weirdo (aka. cookie)
let me hear your cry then

uhm I just know that I watched the originial.. original trilogy (no digital mastering at all :D) back when I was ... hrm 6 or 7.
They use to broadcast it every two years on the same channel here.
Next thing I know is me collectiong hell of a lot SW Action Figures and other stuff.
Playing Shadows of the Empire & Jedi Knight back in '98 made me even more addicted.
And then when I got the advantage of the www I used to store tons of unnecessary SW Information in my head.
But I ain't no nerd

I never was a "nerd" ive always been into sports more. But i use to have ALL the figurines when i was younger. My older brother loved star wars from the time he was 3 or 4 ,so you can imagine i love it also.
This fantasy world created by a genious has touched many, but some people take it too far and never go outside or get into trouble,or become built and get athletic.
Some folks are just crazy and never had the father to teach them how to be a great, strong, intelligent, and courteous man all in one.For women its different though.
..................i love titties ;)

Well, dunno about nerd...
But I got hooked on Star Wars when it came from the national network, each episode on each weekend.
I was 7 or 8 at the time... Just perfect as I learned to read when I was seven (They don't dub the shows here, they have texts, FORTUNATELY). when my parents told me there was this good series of movies and they recorded. - And I watched, and I got hooked.
It was 95 or 96 at the time, and in the year 1997 they released the special editions and I got to see them from cinema. Yeah! What an experience!
It was 1998 when I got my first computer, and in the same year I got Jedi Knight, played the game to the end, and started playing multiplayer in 1999. I started to read some comics, and books after the time of Return of The Jedi (Thrawn trilogy, Daala trilogy, etc.) I believe 9 books at least. Can't remember the last trilogy. Then they released Episode 1 in 1999. At the time I thought it was great but now I only appreciate the fighting style in it.
In time I got more hooked up in Jedi Knight multiplayer because of some famous saber combat enhancing mod, + other mods. Also I continued my passion for Star Wars with other games, and when I heard plans for Star Wars Galaxies, I was thrilled to wait it.
Well, I've read books, bought games, bought action figures, read a lot of websites, databanks, referring to the unofficial Star Wars encyclopedia often...
Star Wars has certainly changed my life a lot. Allthough I don't wear any SW clothes or tell everybody that I'm a fan of it. I got hooked up because of the timing. So many big moments for Star Wars in such a short time.
Yes, I could call myself "A Star Wars geek or nerd" now.

its like a disorder in some people when there own lives become less interesting or if bad things happen in thier lives they latch on to something that isnt real and if it seems better than the life they are leading currently. to label them head cases is a little unfair since usually there is a reason why people do this. even if they dont reveal it. some might want attention, others might be for the reason i just stated. its strange but hell if it makes them feel better and they enjoy it leave em to it i say. its the same for everything in this world, who are we as people to judge it's thier lives.
*sorry for going OT a bit*
Star Wars? What is it? Something like power rangers? If it is, then i would hate it.

ah, the story how i became a Star Wars nerd.... i really like to tell it over and over again.
When i first watched Star Wars movies i was around my 3 years old. i just loved the history concept so i get addicted. then, when i was around 4 years old, my brother bought a computer and he just didnt want a kid starring at him when he was playing Sensible Soccer. so everytime he wanted to play alone and quiet he took me to the living room and made me watch the SW videos. so, normally i saw at least 1 SW video per day :p. and thats how i get addicted in SW.
THANK YOU BRO!!!
well to make it short, i was 8 yrs old back in 1977 when Star Wars came in Cinema , since then im hooked to it :p

a smart point put, bad things in childhood memories develop people into something other than they favor as...........i myself feel the same, except it was a very abusive father.Every since we left him whenever i was about 10,i became a violent, moody pissed off person.A great point made, man, and im sorry some people live ****ed up lives but believe somebody has it worse ALWAYS.I wish i could go back into time ,at the shape and knowledge i am in now,to kill my father slowly and painfully,he screwed my life,i wish i could screw his but he is in a texas state penetentiary.

One Christmas long ago (about 10 years ago probably) my Grandma took me to see one of her nest friends, as it happened they were watching The Empire Strikes Back. Her son, a vintage SW nerd saw my interest and showed me his amazing collection of maybe 150 figures and vehicles. I was hooked from then on.

Strangely enough, I didn't originally see star wars, I was about 7 and i got this lego x-wing and I interesting it the fact it was from a movie, so a friend of mine lent me three star wars movie (4,5 and 6) and i watched those, i even had a chance to watch a pirated edition of esp 1 later on, but i didn't want to as the guy couldn't seem to hold the camera still ><
anyways rusty..........how about you joining the team and replying
Hm... I'm not actually a SW fan...

Well, I'm still in highschool, so I obviously wasn't around at the beginning, but I know perfectly well how I got into Star Wars (I'm not new either, I was hooked well before special edition). I've had numerous, strong allergies since I was born, but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 10-12, dont remember exactly when... anyway, I used to be sick, basically all the time, and my dad loves Star Wars, has since he was a boy. Anyway, I'd be up at 6AM with my allergies, throwing up here and there during the height of each season's allergen, and I just started watching Star Wars cause that's what was on. I never stopped since, and it's still awesome. I kinda wished I got started now though, cause all the things that are supposed to be surprising, and all the plot twists, aren't and I don't really remember when I first saw them, being that it was such a long time ago and I was so little, so it kinda takes a way a little bit. But yea, that's how I started.

Wow, that must suck living for 12 or so years with undiagnosed allergies.......
The books are vital for anyone wanting to increase there nerdiness, even though they are nearl always EU even the original novels have bits in that i feel should be in the films i might post back with examples

When I was in second grade, kids brought their Star Wars action figures to school, talking about R2D2 and Luke Skywalker and the Death Star. I was like "wtf is that" and saw TESB a few years later at a hotel. Anyway, I decided Jedi Outcast might be a good game (i had heard a lot about it) and started playing it..
:)
So you're an artificial Star Wars fan? Or have you actually seen all the old movies more than 100 times each?
[KP] Tokakeke

I have seen TPM twice (didn't like it)
AOTC at least 5 times
ANH at least 12
TESB maybe 7
ROTJ about 4
fair enough. I don't know the exact number I've seen IV-VI but I know each is over 100 (ESB is around 100 cause I don't like it as much). I've seen Episode I maybe 10 times, didn't care for it, and I have it on tape... and I watch DVDs. Seen Episode II maybe 20 times.
