Has anyone else experienced these?

It usually occurs during the initial spawning for a round, or at map transition.

These are total PC lock-ups im talking about, not just JA crashing.

I'm asking, because i'm not confident it isn't a hardware fault on my machine (its been abit flakey of late).
Coupled with upgrading to XP SP2, and the transition to b16, its not easy to isolate the exact cause of the crashes. (though I havn't experienced these complete lock-ups in any other games)

So, if any1 else has been experiencing these crashes - pls let me know.

Incase its a hardware related issue, im on a :-

Athlon 1.33
GF2gts 32mb (latest drivers - 61.77)
WinXP SP2 (fresh install of SP1, and immediate upgrade)

Sorry can't help you much, but microsoft has made a list of games which are causing problems in SP2, and If i remember right, JA wasn't there... You can check it of course somewhere from microsoft pages.

I bet it is a hardware 'error'.

I have always had this problem even playing MB1 on Jedi outcast (back in the day aiii)... I always just blamed the cheap collection of crap I call a PC :p , but then again I could try disabling the firewall

From what I've read jawa, sp2 has messed up quite a lot of games.

I've not had this problem at all, but my pc rarely has problems (cept my mousehweel going on and off).

If you are getting freezes theres a certain amount of things it might be.

Make sure your gfx card is seated properly. Take it out and put it back in, clearing the dust out.

Try unplugging a few devices from your psu, a pause in the power is often the cause of a freeze.

Do a test on your ram, corrupt ram can also cause a freeze if it tries to read/write from a corrupted piece.

Do a virus check and importantly, a spyware check. These things mess with your pc a lot.

Also if you're using the geforce 2, you will probably be better off with an older set of drivers. The new ones like 61.77 dont give old cards any benefit and are made to enhance performance on the newer cards like 6800 and fx range. I suggested 44.00, or the 56's. Yep, I've experienced this. One time when I just got onto a server and tried to switch class and suddenly my comp froze. Is this just overload in processing?

SpeedFan can help you detect heating problems and wrong voltage levels if that's the problem. If i recall chips are guaranteed to work correctly up to 70º C, of course i'd worry if my temp reached 60º.
